RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
hey guys,
i was just browsing for a possible next engine for my savage x(even if i dont need one just yet) and i came upon this,
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXHGU5&P=ML
it has 2.85hp with RPM (max): 42,800. hey ash, if it's a good engine, it would fit your needs to hit a ramp at 40 mph.
ive looked at alot of threads and never saw anyone mention this engine. is it because its not a very good engine? just wondering. would be a good engine to go fast with.
speedy

My Savvy X with the Surefire 32 and a 3 speed doesn't have a chance against my TM18 Revo until the Revo hits its top speed (geared for track) That little TM is a freakin' rocket out of the hole, I dont know if there was ANYTHING at my last race that would keep up with it on the straight's.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
the question is... is there usable power right up to 42,000 rpm? I seriously doubt it.
Thats like a $50 wallmart subwoofer for a car rated at 1000 watts max power... truthfully if you put 1000 watts to it, it would likely become a projectile as it exploded.
I'm not saying this engine isnt good, but my biggest issue with it would be the rarity of it. parts could be a nightmare to get for it and tuning advice / troubleshooting advice would be hard to come by. I stick with common engines that parts are easy to get for.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
Well, I've got Lexington Hobby Shop in on it now so I'm expecting that they alone will have a couple of rides out there. I think they're bringing a heli too (no airplanes). Aside from them, I've got the revo and the savage (and a driver for the savage) so that's 2. Then there's about 3 guys that have said that they would come...we'll see.
Shame there's not more rsvp's - these events can get anyone some really good exposure...there's a good chance that the media will be there too and we'll be on TV
Tell your friends!

good point there. the rpm does sound too good to be true. but i guess something cheap or a picco would be nice. but like i said, gotta wait till next year.
but then again, the STS .28 was also too good to be true for 3.6hp for only about a $110.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
Had the savy out last night. First time I got to run with the HPI aluminum clutch and RRP spur gear/clutch bell. I must say felt like it had more punch than stock.
When my friends get his fixed (stripped carb no clue how it happened...) and gets out of the hospital hopefully we can make a video. His brother has a 25 which is getting an Axial 28 put in it so it should be a good vid.

the walmart subs are great for the price!!!! max power on a sub is just for surges.... the rms power is the actual amount of watts you can put to it!

When the rotostart fails to turn the engine because the receiver on the back plate of the engine spins freely, is that the one way bearing or something else?

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
well i got my rear spool in yesterday and got it in my x this morning. steering hasnt really been affected as far as wider turning radius, but then again i only play on loose surfaces. i will say though while on the throttle the truck has less of a tendancy to roll over, it just seems to slide while turning which works great for me. now to replace the housings

That actually sounds very cool...I'd rather powerslide than "handle" since I don't race my X. It's just for showing off
Cool...that's good to know

Thanks, that helped alot... But it says savage x on the box. Seriously...can you help.. Meby just tell me if shutting off with the brake is normal, or is it just way out of adjustment?
