Anyone broke their Roto start 2???
I just bought the Savage X and as soon as i tried to start the motor for the first time,The damn roto start broke,it wont spin.I know its not the motor or backplate because i use my friends roto start and it fired right up.So my question is has anyone broke their rotostart,and if so what did HPI do about it?[

Yeah mine broke too. Called HPI and explained what happened and they sent a new one out the next day. Don't forget to check the mesh on the spur gear as mine was real loose.

Most new engines are real tight until they break in and it helps alot to back off on the glow plug.until it starts then tighten it up.Did you guys back off on the plug when you started the engine ??I was telling people about this problem on savage .com and they all jumped in and told me that its old information and that you should all have known about it .

I had the exact same experience....I called HPI, and they where great! They said "no problem" I got a return Item # and am currently waiting for a replacement

you and your pull starters hush[:'(] lol........but the same thing happened to my rotostart after about a gallon through. called hpi and 4 days later a new rotostart was sitting at my doorstep.

i love the fact that this forum members have a sense of humor i just hate having to pull start my truck, and i hate blisters in the winter.........

Not sure why you are getting blisters as I do not have a problem cranking mine in a couple of pulls or does it have to do with how some tune?

i got my new roto start today.
thanks hpi. great CS
i took it apart and it looks just like my old broken one.
i hope this one has the harden gears like they it would.
only time will tell. i did pack it with more grease.

i just got my brand new savy and the roto start broke on the first try the thing doesnt even turn it just spins on the inside
and its a friday so i have to wait until monday to even talk to someone...
any suggustions on how to start it without a rotostart

when my roto start craped out on me i used a power drill, the cordless i had wasent fast anough. after the second time i ran out of fuel in the middle of the pit i said screw this and got the pull start. now all i carry is the fuel bottle and the ignighter, two (2) pulls later [sm=punching.gif] AAAAAHHHHHHHH YEAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well some might be happy to know I now have broken my second pull starter in over 5 years at the track tonight. [:@] Was talking while trying to start it and pulled the cord out to far. But still like my pull starters.
