Hey guys I need to get a hump pack for my Savage X. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one to get? How many Volts/ Namh do I need to look for? Also do the hump packs fit in the stock battery holder on the Savage X. Is there anything else I need besides the pack, and the charger?? I would like to get this stuff ordered ASAP so any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks.

I've got a few hump-packs, and two of them have different connectors, so one requires an adaptor.. So make sure it has the right connector for the charger..

Also, I bought an 1100 and find that it doesn't last that long - the 1200 and 1400 are noticeably better. Get as many MaH as you can - at least 1200..

Jeeze - never seen a 1600 before...

And make sure you charge it COMPLETELY.. And then a tad more.. A fully charged good hump-pack makes a very nice difference.. Wakes the whole truck up.

Get as high a mah rating as you can find/afford. That is what affects run time. Voltage on a hump pack is 6 volts (1.2v x 5 batterys) which is the same voltage provided by 4 standard AA batterys. You could also get 4 rechargable AA's and use the existing battery holder. The advantage to that is you can get those batterys in 2500mah sizes and 4 can be bought at WallyWorld for under $9. The disadvantage is you lose 1.2 volts so the servo speeds and torque will decrease.
A hump pack fits (VERY tightly) into the old style battery box so I assume, but do not know for sure, that it will fit in the "X" also.

The voltage on 4 standard aa's is not 6 volts, They are 4.8 volts.

Dave is right, regular old AA batts are 1.5v each. The rechargeable cells are the ones that only put out 1.2v per cell. That's why you need a 5 cell pack to equal the performance of 4 fully charged AAs.

That's true because nimh batteries will maintain a higher voltage during discharge than alkaline batterys. As soon as you start using alkalines the voltage starts to drop where rechargables (nimh's and especially lipos) maintain close to their initial voltage levels untill well into the discharge cycle.

Hi All,

Just for a data point, the hump pack fits just fine in my Savage X, it also fits fine in 'his' SS 4.6. My LHS recommended going with the 6V hump pack as the failsafe works better with the 6V pack then it does on a 4.8V pack.
