RE: X shock towers
Do a Google search for "Savage shock mod" and you will probably see what you need. the trick is to cut a length of fuel tubing to use as an internal shock limiter. That keeps the shock from fully extending and lowers the truck. If you see a Savage sitting with the arms level and it's still wearing the stock shocks, then they have done the "shock mod".

But if you do the shock mod with the stock springs more then likely it is going to be stiff. You can try taking the spring spacers out if you do the shock limit mod or softer shock springs. I run one red and one green each corner with 10mm limiters. These mods are more for racing.

RE: X shock towers
i just got done with the shock mod, i did about .5 inch tube and 15weight shock oil stock springs.
i don't plan to race just bash with other people.
should i do different springs, and different oil ?
i like this mod it saved me money, was very easy, and was what i was looking for.

RE: X shock towers
I bashed mine with black springs and a 1/2" shock mod for some time. You could cut the springs down just a little less than the length of your limiter if you want to get all serious about it. You might want to step back up to 25-30w shock oil though. Play around and see what you like the best. This is a handling mod, and any Savage owner can benefit from it as long as it's set up right.
