Default ooops

i took the cooling head off my savage x and when i romoved the screws i noticed there was lock tight from the factory on it so i put some when put it pack on it i added some lock tight but it leakt unburt fuel from the bottom of the colling head so i took it no lock tight got in the engine so i put it back really tight with a little lock tight but i leaks aliitle still whats going on theres no spacers or whatever u call them to keep things seald just the under head i know now theres not sepposed to be lock tight but its driving me crazy that no matter how tight i make it leaks just little

There should be a head shim or copper colored shim(gasket) are you sure nothing fell out when you took it apart. And why did you take it apart?

Yeah it's the copper shim/gasket. When you tighten it up make sur eyou do it in a star pattern for a more even seal.

You need that 0.20 shim(gasket)
You can run 30% in the 4.1 IF tou add a 0.10 to the so called existing 0.20 shim that should be there now

im sure no shims fell out i took it apart cause the cooling head was full of crap

Well you will not solve the problem until you get a shim for the head. Use the .20 shim mentioned above.
