Default Good Deal

Hey evey one, my local hobby store is having a sale, and they have this brand new HPI savage (kawasaki edition) for $340. Is this a great deal? This is the chaepest ive seen them.
Right now i have a redcat volcano, and I'd like to get something more reliable, so i figued savage was my best bet. I'm not made of money, if i buy this, it will surely knock me back a couple pay checks, but it is "affordable" (in hobby standards).

So what do you think, should i get it? And are there any issues with the savage that i need to know? Any quirks?
Your help is appereciated[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

GREAT deal, awesome truck... Don't care much for the body, but for $340, you can't go wrong.

Can't go wrong with a savage. And that body will go for the price of 2 bodies on e-bay.

Go for it.. Sell the body on e-bay, then just buy whatever truck body floats your boat.. And that's it - you'r in..

The ATV - though at first seemingly dumb - is pretty cool on the promotional vid.. Take a look..:

I would snatch that up quick if my LHS had that deal going. Mine wouldn't even put it on the shelves though. They paid under $300 for it, and at that price the guy at the LHS that's closest to me would chop it and sell the pieces for more profit. He got a GREAT deal on a couple of older SS models and sold the rims and tires for a third of what he bought the whole kit for... The engines covered the rest, and he ended up with two free rollers out of the deal.

Very nice!

I ordered one of those myself at www.ultimatehobbies.com when they had their labor day sale for 299.99.. I don't care for the four wheeler or gt2 body.. I will be painting up one myself.. probably the gt1

So I will have a stunt steve and body up for grabs also.. lol

On a side note.. how are those green shock springs?? any good for bashing around?

Pro-Line's classic pickup bodies look great painted up, Cheeze

Upgrades that you HAVE to get for the truck are a clutch and a hardened clutchbell...otherwise it'll be good to go. make sure you look at my "Read this" thread (I'll bump it for ya)

A guy I know has the Chevy, I have the Ford...and the more beat they get, the better they look

Yo leslie, right now i mostly just drive around in my yard, or at the park. I've been wanting to go to route 106 raceway, but its about an hour drive and i haven't gotten around to taking a trip up there.

TBJ, I saw that thread you made, wicked cool of you to give helpful tips like that, thanks. Oh yeah, and the battle scars just give the truck character, and your truck has a qute good character

Oh yeah, and i posted the kawasaki body on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Hpi-Savage-Kawas...QQcmdZViewItem

the green springs are a little softer than the black springs, so less air but also less rollovers.
