He got the 0702, the exhuast designed just for the D28M and D30M. It is a left exhuast, and I too had to modify mine to become a right exhaust. A dremel and a jewler's drill set was all I needed to mount my 0702 to my D30M and it runs great!

Any of you guys in North Carolina going to the Monster Jam?

We and many others including HPI are sponsors. We are raffling off a few engines and HPI is giving away a Savy.
There will be full size 1:1 Monster Trucks from HPI. See link below....

Mark when will the new red head D21B be in stock? Are you going to the Monster Jam in NC?

They just had a Monster truck Extreme race here in middle Georgia last weekend sponsored by Traxxas. No I did not go as I went to the Buggy Jamboree instead. All so as all know I am a Savage man.

Of coarse you can if you know what you are doing. Do a search on the entire forums and you will found some information. But be careful as if you do not know what you are doing can get expensive.

I believe we also go into significant detail in a couple of thread sin the gas ane engines forum. When I find them, I will bump them forward in that forum. Alot of hoobyists, including myself, have done some mods on our engines ahve have posted some pics. Forgive me for the poor quality of alot of my pics, I'm far from being a proficient photographer.

im not after a total revise of the engine... just maybe grinding down something that should not be there.. but if there were a thread that could tell me how to mod it better i guess i could atleast give my F4.1 a try before i destroy my STS 30

the STS engines are not the easist motors to mod, nor do they always respond the best to mods.. STS has these motor times very agresively and they can become very sensitive to mods... Be careful ! IMHO get a XTM 457 or Mach 427 to mod as they respond alot better..

okej i trust you supertib.. i wont mod it then.. not even touch it with a soft rag..
46u i were more about if there were any leftover from the factory needed to be grinded down.. you know.. cheap engine.. quick QC and maybe some rough spots..
my English has it shortcomings and sometimes i cant describe what I'm after

anyway.. the STS will kick my F4.1s as any day.. so i guess i shouldn't start talking about modding before I've even put all the hop-ups into my savage:P

but anyway any rough spots to polish on the STS then?=) i think i got the question right now hehe

I am by no means an expert in modifying engines but you can do small things like the article states with out changing any of the timing. But if you are not sure best to leave things alone.

I'm planning on putting an STS .30 in my revo and I have 2 questions, can anyone compare a Jammin JP-3 pipe to the 0702 STS pipe, and what do you have to do to get the STS pipe to fit on the left side of the engine??

BL, just use the 0702. it's compatible with mounting on either side.

I just went through that with my REVO and a Qoncepts kit. I found the carb movement improved when I took the carb apart and used Associated Green Slime on the slide. Helpted a lot with the binding. Finally, I spent a lot of time and effort figuring out how to get the throttle pull lever arm aligned so that it gets as straight of pull as possible on the carb, and that finally made it work properly. No binding now. Just takes some tinkering, and thought.

If i dont remember wrong it has been stated earlier in this (quite long) thread that you will only see around 75% of the performance when using a Jammin JP2/3 pipe compared to the STS 0702 pipe.

To get the 0702 pipe on the other side of the engine you will have to cut away a little metal. Quite easy. Will be quite obvious how when you get it.

OK i just shimmed my engine a couple of days ago to run in on 30%. I broke it in on 20%, when i take it out, should i let it idle a couple of tanks or something, i will now be running on 30%. Will MC-8 glow plug work good?

If you are going from 20 to 30% you will have to richen it up. Just makes sure you keep and eye on it till you get it tuned for 30% other then that I would not worry.

You have to mod the 0702 to become right side mount. That means you have to file down a side and drill new exhaust spring holes.

Having trouble with my engine My dad filed down the header accordingly so now its at the proper angle and its facing the right side. That said the engine with the header installed doesnt fit!!!!!!!!!!!![:@][&o] The header touches the shock tower and the CB is still 1-2mm too far up front, it rubs the spur gear. What have you guys done to make it fit, have you had this problem?? Im considering filing down the face of the header but I doubt that would make much difference, maybe 1mm but durability would be decreased. Please help I wanted to break it in this weekend[] Tom.
