Polished Pipe vs. Ribbed Pipe
I am either going to get the HPI Polished Aluminium Pipe or the HPI Ribbed Pipe. Which one would you choose? I am looking for more bottom- and mid-end power and torque.
I heard from the HPI website that the HPI Polished pipe is designed for more bottom- and mid-end power, and that the ribbed is designed for more RPM and top-end power.
But, quite a few people on Savage Central say exactly the opposite. So what is the truth?

Yea, the ribbed is suppose to be the one for low end, thats what Ive been reading from guys who have or do run them for the past two years.
I think the HPI website has it backward.

RE: Polished Pipe vs. Ribbed Pipe
I voted for the polished pipe. The ribbed one does not have a forward baffle where as the polished one does. I use the polished ones on a couple of my K4.6's and they work great for me. I resorted to using those pipes not because the ribbed pipe lacks the forward baffle, I got them because I found them for about $27 on-line where the ribbed ones costed about $30 to $35.

I am using the Nitro Star F4.1 engine. What's a forward baffle?
That's strange because I also asked a guy that works for HPI and he said that the polished is for bottom end and torque, and the ribbed is for top end.

Polished pipe yes! I have never run the ribbed on my Savage but ran on my MT one time and did not like it at all. The rib is a bottom end pipe and do not care what some one told you as they are WRONG.

RE: Polished Pipe vs. Ribbed Pipe
OK. I am going for the Polished Pipe. There are also reports that the ribbed pipe makes the half tank lean issue worse.
It really is strange though, because three people from HPI who all have the polished pipe have confirmed that the polished pipe is for LOW-END AND MID-RANGE POWER. Could it be that on some engines the polished pipe gives for low-end, and on other engines is functions as a high-end pipe?

RE: Polished Pipe vs. Ribbed Pipe
OK then. Say I get the Polished pipe, and it is designed for top-end. Will I still get a small increase in power on the low-end?
