I'm not sure, but I think it turns at least 3000RPM. I've resorted to useing an 1800RPM electric drill since I broke my roto unit and so did my neighbor (the same gear stripped teeth!).
From what I hgear, the Hot Bodies Roto Unit is superior. Since HPI owns HB, I do not know why HPI does not dispense with its roto unit and go with the HB one all around. I would.
