My First P+P... PIC'S NOW UP!
Well I P+P my XTM 457 Pro Truck motor last night, Also took some pics of what I did.
I also polished the crank but didnt get to polishing the inside intake port.
I did do a number to the transfer ports and I think that helped alot, As I removed a fair amount of meterial and open them up quite a bit and removed any sharp corners on the lower side of all intake ports and polished them to a mirror finish.
I didnt touch the exhaust port as im not really sure on what I am suposed to do there.
like I said this was my first port job and any cirtisism is welcome as I want to learn the tricks and get the basics down.!

RE: My First P+P with pic's
I know I know the pics are on a freinds pc and I am just waiting for him to e-mail me soon verry soon dont wory.
however I must have done something right as the power band starts about the same rpm but seems to be alot more linear and it is almost uncontrolable with a 17 tooth clutch bell and 48 tooth spur and 2 speed it will wheelie out of every corner even with 1/4 throttle and it seems as tho I get an extra 2 to 4 min of run time out of each tank...(but I didnt time it yet)
FYI squish is at .024" (comes from the factory @ that squish)
so hold tight for the nice pics..I think I did a nice job getting them on film atleast

Well, they used to say "The proof is in the pudding" so, if it's running as much better as you say, what does it matter how the ports look??
But to answer your question, Yes, they look fine. Maybe not as radical as some I've seen but that's not necessarly a bad thing. Especially if your happy with the performance.

I think per capita Winnipeg has alot of engine modders..must be our strong beer and coffee or something.
This is phase one of the motors mods....basic porting and polishing and cleaning up the crank a touch.
Phase 2 will be working on the 90deg and 180deg ports and cleaning the rest of the crank and really making it mirror like and polishing the exhaust port in the case.
Phase 3 will be timing mods

well I fifnished the 2nd part of my porting that includeded a lil more sleve work and crankwork and it really made it have a much broader powerband and it let me run a lil richer on the settings that show that it is really letting more air/fuel into the cyl and it is like a raped ape running threw the bush with its tain on fire..I will post video as soon as I get a few clips.
