i got a savage 25,i am 12years old, that has been run in for christmas an i have drove it a couple times.i think it is going well but my dad says it is cutting out when stoped an not reaching second gear.what is causing this??

When you accelerate, does A LOT of smoke come out the exhaust? Will it stall on full throttle?

u have to rais the idle that why when u hit the brakes it stalls. turn the idle screw clockwise to raise the idle. do litt;le adjustments at a time. also if it's not shifting then adjust the shift points. turn the shift point screw counterclock wise for a aesrlier shift........these trucks are alot of fun once u get all these kinks out of it, it'll be so much fun

lean out the high speed needle a little bit but not too much because you want enough of the lubricants in the fuel to get into the engine so have it at top performance and richen it a little bit maybe 1/5th of a turn

lean it then after ritchen it 1/5, wierd, just put the neeldes back to factory settings and start to tune from there, if problem still occurs then do what i posted above. just do what i posted above.

ok i did turn up the idle an it runs two quick.an moves when i dont touch it.

y is it not hitting second gear????

not a lot of smoke comes out.no it dosent stall on full throttle it just wont reach second gear.

ritchen it 1/8 of a turn. then afterthat adjust the shift point to shift sooner(counterclockwise)

That engine is still new. It takes time for the engine to break in
and start to run better. DO NOT start turning any needles for the
carb or the adjustment for tranny untill you run a few more tanks of
fuel through the engine. Just start it and drive it around and don't
worry about going full throttle right now. After some more break in time
then adjust your high speed needle a little at a time to lean out
the engine some. Watch your smoke trail and temps. After a few
more tanks of break in and some tuning it will shift into 2nd gear.
Do not adjust tranny shift point untill broken in and tuned a little better.
After its running good, if you don't like the shift point of tranny
then adjust it. If you start adjusting this, that and the other thing before
a good break in, your settings will be a mess.

thanks. my engine has already been broke in.we have tuned it piles of times 2 get it rite but we always hav 2 but it back 2 factory settings an start again.once we turn the high speed needle 4 an a half anti clockwise an low speed 3 anti clockwise.we start 2 turn high speed 1.8th clockwise an give it a run we turn it again 1.8th an repeat that 4 2 5 times more an still wont hit 2nd gear.

adjust the shif point anti-clockwise to shift sooner and vis versa
