Wait a minute.... Your looking for a truck to bash and you have a savage 25. You have a truck to bash with allready, why do you want to sell it and get an X? All you need is a few upgrades and your set. The X is not more durable than the 25. yes it has a few nice advantages over the 25 but nothing you cant get sepperately and just add to your truck. As much as i like the XSS im not gong to get one because im more than satisfied with my trucks at the moment. I've upgraded tha stuff i used to break alot and since then they are mostly problem free. My friend has an X and as much as i find it handy to be able to adjust the shift points or fixing the diffs without taking the whole truck appart, it doesnt make his truck more solid than mine. If you really want the x then go for it but i think you would be better off just upgrading the one you have.

The only issue I had with my X was an occasional loose screw from the factory but that's normal. Since I hate philips head screws, I would suggest purchasing a hex head screw set and using loctite. I bought a stainless set on ebay like these.

Hey crazyjones, i got the same set about a year ago and it was a nightmare. They ALL stripped as soon as i went to remove them, it got to a point where i didnt bother installing new ones anymore, i just threw them all out even if they were new [&:].

Great... I just ordered the set and they should be showing up today. If they are that bad I may put them on Ebay. Any suggestions for a screw set that doesn't suck???

Alloy diff cups IMO is a must, you can get a complete diff with casing and bulkheads off ebay for pretty cheap. 3 speed tranny is nice to have but not a needed upgrade, if you have the money then go for it but if you dont then the money coud be better spent elswhere. A .28 engine would be a good upgrade, combined with a good tuned pipe and alloy clutch shoes, it will really change your trucks performance. A stronger steering servo would be a good thing also, not a must but a nice step up from the stock one. Dual disk brakes are very nice to have, the stock one really sucks. If you dont allready have one then a failsafe and hump pack are also a must have. As for tires, theres a $h!tload of combinations out there.
My best advice right now is to use the search at the bottom of the page, look up whatever your looking for, theres tons of info on this site. From there you can see pics, get links and read what people have to say about different things they have tried on their trucks. Once you have a list of what you pretty much want, start a new post and ask us what we think of your planned upgrades.

Agreed,
Based on the research I did on this site before getting my X, I bought:
1) 3 speed trans
2) Reverse (nice to have for bashing)
3) New radio (3 channel)
4) Fail safe
5) Hump packs
6) RPM center skid plate
Haven't had a problem with any of the suggested upgrades.
Also, if you don't like what your lhs has for hump packs you can have longer lasting packs made from several places online or go to Batteries Plus and they can make just about any pack you want.
