Default Looking for a good all-around bash tire..

Right now my X SS is going to have a brand-new set of the standard old Savage 25 wheels/tires.

I REALLY want offset though. I have a set of offset Ofna dish rims(to be dyed black), and I'm in the market for a good set of all-around bash tires.

My first question is, who has the Badlands MT tires, and can you please post pics if you have them??

Secondly, I might also consider starting over with some 40 series. My ideal set-up I guess would be the Axial XL 8-spoke rims in black, along with some Big Joes or Dirt Hawgs.. That's quite expensive though, and at the moment I frankly can't afford it..

Anyway, are 40 series worth it? Or are they just unnecessary, heavy strains on the drivetrains??..

Any other suggestions for a good all arounder??

I hear the good old Proline MAXX tires are good...

The Badlands are one of Pro-lines MT size tires, so they are narrower than a normal Maxx size tire. I have them on my Savage now, but I haven't run them on that truck yet. I've driven a couple of other peoples trucks that had them though, and they are very nice. I love the stability of the narrower carcass, and that tread design can find traction anywhere.

Here's mine on the truck

Here's a comparison shot of the Badlands beside the stock Dirtbonz

40 series don't hurt the drive train.
big joe are great, they work in sand, mud water. . . gravel

That depends on which 40 series tires you are talking about. The shorter race rubber, like Bowties or Pythons, aren't really any worse than the maxx size tires, but something like the big old Moabs or Big Joes ARE harder on the drivetrain. Not only are they wider, but they are also taller and weigh much more than a normal Maxx size tire.

love these tires http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXAHA4&P=RF

just matched them up with maximizer x-75 bead lock rims and they really hook up in the grass and dirt

Thanks... Kind of just an aesthetic issue, but those Badlands look a bit narrow for my taste..

You know, just to keep the crowd happy..

I can only pull donuts on pavement when its wet or raining. Otherwise there is too much grip.

why would you say that. I have run zombie maxxs but all i do is slide around. wheelies are fun but i would rather have the top speed.

Gear it up some then. The really tall/heavy tires are just going to break more parts, wear stuff out faster, and reduce performance.

I guess it just depends on how you drive, what you expect from the truck, and what you prefer. Personally I really like the look of the bigger tires, but after trying them on my truck... it's just not worth it for me.

Thanks for the info chronic. I have geared the truck up for top speed already but I have a sts 30 that needs to really stretch its legs. It still wheelies with 18/47 gearing and I usually run with the 16 tooth clutchbell because I like to do some offroading. I usually run on pavement but grass, dirt, and snow(ocasionilly) are also what I like to bash in. So is there a tire that you can recommendfor that application? What tires did you run that started to wear down the parts on ur truck and that u dont like big tires besides there looks?

Alittle off topic but I saw a set of ur tvps and love them. I was wondering how much they cost? I would want a lcg savage 25 tvp but my truck has a savage x radio box. This would be a great help with handling. Thx.

John

For money reasons I've decided for the time-being to just go with the Dirt Bonz, and wait a bit and eventually get either Big Joes or Dirt Hawgs on 8-spoke Axial XL black rims..

BTW, can anybody confirm that the 40 series Dirt Hawgs are lighter than the Big Joes?? Just saw in a pic that they look a good bit smaller (but still big..)

Dirt Hawgs?? Anybody??

Really you can't just have one best all around bashing tire imo. I have tried everything Zombies, dirt bonz, GT2's, the old stock Savage tires, Mashers, Bow Tie's and everything from Imex. Hands down I have to say that the Dirt Bonz ans GT2's are hard to beat. Also these are lighter than most! Proline Mulches, Mashers and Bow Tie's have also been great!

I really liked the stock Sav 25 tires - they're still going strong actually on my Lightning GT. The proflie is still in excellent condition - and that after probably five gallons, a year and a half, and more than just a few donuts on concrete... Going with the Bonz now - just don't want them to burn up afer half a gallon - nor do I want to change my driving style in order to prevent that..

What do you think of Big Joes?? They seem to come up for sale used quite a lot - which makes me suspicious...

i had big joes on my t maxx with velocity rims and loved it.and when i bought my savage that was the 1st thing i got except i bought the wabash rims. they come in standard offset and revo offset i got standard.i put them on and they make the savage so much more stable and i did not lose as much power as i thought i would.i was going to put bead locks on but that i thought that may have been too heavy.i like the wabash rims as well its a lot easier to put wheel nuts on.just my opinion
