gat a savage x but i want the power of a 28+ engine. what do you think of these two engines?
would i need to change any of the drivetrain parts for stronger ones. Also which one is faster; off the line and top end speed? thanks

You will definately need to buy Heavy-Duty Dogbones, Cup Joints, and Alloy Differential Cups. A Steel Spur Gear and Racing Clutch Bell is also a good idea.

i h have the axial .28 i think that you shoiuld get it. it's only 120 at towerhobbies.com and the os is sp much more. with the axial you won't break alot of the things that you would with the os. the axial has plenty of power. and all ypou need it hd cups and dog bones no need for the steel pur gear i have the axial and i'm still on my stock plastic spur

Never had an OS.. In fact, so far I've only ever run the stock 25 on the Savage 25 RTR and the Hot Bodies 26 on the Lightning GT..
Just started breaking in the Axial 28 on my X SS..
LOVE IT.. SSSSSOOOOO much easier to start, tune,etc.., than I ever would have expected, and pa-lenty of power.. After six tanks it's already clear that the stock 25 wheels and tires I bought with it, with their 14 mm hexes, won't last very long.. Six tanks into break-in, and two antenna tubes busted from crazy wheelies - and that when I was worried about being overgeared with 18/47... - AND a slightly extended chassis(only .6 in the front, but still...)
The OS may be better, but it costs twice as much, and I doubt it's twice as good..

What exactly do you want to do?
After my second day of break-in, it's already clear to me that I have to change tires and rims, and maybe even stiffen up the shocks with some thicker oil..
For me anyway, this 28 is plenty fast. The 32 is probably just faster. I guess you'd have to gear it 20/47 or so to not just flip over every time you punch the throttle..
If bragging rights are what you're after, then the STS 30 seems to be the king of that particular hill at the moment.. Axial 32 also probably big in that category.
From lots of people though, sounds like the LRP Z.28R Spec 3 is THE engine to have ...... That's what I would get for the next one..
In general, I'd rather pay 100 bucks for a budget engine like the STS 28 or SH28 Prospec, or a bit more for the LRP, then twice that for an engine that probably wouldn't be twice as good..

at the moment ive got the stock f4.1 in my savage x but apart from that the biggest engine ive run in and used is an 18.
i am basically looking at a big boost in power from th 4.1;will the axial .28 do this?

Over the old 25, yes. Over the F4.1, well, I never had that engine - but I heard it was a pretty good upgrade over the 25...
There are several variables dude. Budget?? LHS support??
If you want a BIG-TIME all out powerhouse, get the Axial 32 or the LRP Spec 3. Don't know about part availability for STS in the UK, but as I said, the STS 30 is well-priced, and should destroy your drivetrain in no time..

i'd go with the axial .28. the .32 is a heavy drinker and the torque is about the same as the .28. the os .30 also puts up incredible numbers in hp.

if you wan the fastest motor get the STS 30... it will outright spank the other motors on you list... especialy on top end, the STS is an absolute screamer of a mill

I've heard the Tsais M25 works well... But can't say from experience.
100 Pounds seems steep actually.. If I'm not mistaken, that's like 200 bucks.. I'd just order it from the States.. It's even cheaper than that here in Germany(and that's saying quite a bit..) - €145 shipped...

i just want to point out a MONSTER TRUCK is not built for speed, its not a touring car....
but if im honest i will say the way you break and treat you engine will show in its performance, so its a matter of what you realy want..i think the o.s has proven a great engine in truggys as well as monster trucks, to much torque is not much fun unless you have a gentle trigger finger...
myself im just flat out and go..lol...[>:]
