Default roto-start!

I went to go turn my roto-start into the owb and the shaft doesn't spin just something inside. I don't know what it could be? You guys might know?

It seems to be a common problem with the new in the box rotostarts. I had the same problem. I pulled mine out of the box threw in the battery hit the button and clakety clakety clack. The gears busted on the inside.

I would suggest calling HPI and tell them the problem. They should send you a part or gears to fix it or they might do like they did with me. I sent mine back to them and the sent me a brand new one.

Hope this helps.

yeah it makes that noise and doesn't spin! So I guess i'll just called HPI today and see if they can send me a new one. What do I need to say for them to send me a new one? That it just broke? I'm not sure.

just tell them the gears stripped out. i called them when mine went bad on the 3rd tank on my new savage.
i didn`t even have to send it back.
hpi just sent me a new one and then i went out and bought the gears for
the one i had. so now i got two rotos

So I don't need to send out my roto-start they'll just send me a new one? I read on the website something about shipping out parts. Do you think i'll have to do that with my roto-start?

When you get your new roto-start, loosen the glow-plug when you start the engine, when it starts tighten it back down. This will put less stress on your roto, and owb. After the motor gets older this will become unessary to do , because of the loss of compression.

That's weird I called Hpiracing customer support this number 949.753.1099 and then that beep, beep, beep noise comes up and says "were sorry the number you dialed doesn't exist". Does anyone have any other numbers I can reach them to tell them about my roto-start? Thanks

Nvm the number I dialed need a one in front of it so I did that and it worked but they were closed so I'll call later 2nite. It's suppose to look like this 1.949.753.1099 not 949.753.1099 now that I know!

I'm PISSED! I called HPI and said that my roto start broke. They said send us an email with the broken part. I did that they said they ship it out. They shipped it out supposly and its been 3 weeks and still haven't got it! When I 'm suppose to get it in 5 days after I told them of my broken part. So I emailed them telling them and they said "it should take a few extra days"! What do you guys think I should do? Should I just go out and buy one? Or just wait another month and come home from school everyday wondering if my package came!

Do you have a cordless drill with a good clutch setting?
you can start it with a drill in reverse...BE VERY CAREFUL the drill has ALOT more power then the roto, and you can damage your engine.
BUT
it will work till you get yours fixed.

hey rc
yes its the newer updated one. the better one.
that one shouldn`t give you any more problems.
as a matter of fact. i still got my new one in the box.
i`m still using the one that came with my savage with the new gears i bought.
i did have to replace the switch a while ago.
do yourself a favor every now and then and grease the gears in the roto.

Does anyone know why there is a outlet on the roto-start 2 for like AC/DC 7 volt or something like that? When I got my free roto-start it didn't have a manuel so I don't know what it is used for. Anyone know what it is for?
