I suggest the kit.........

When I first got into the hobby I didn't think of myself as "a builder" either...

But I recently built my X SS - AND LOVE IT. You appreciate it a tad more when you put it together yourself. And it REALLY is easy....

At first it may look a bit difficult, getting a box full of bags of parts, but a few days later when you have a brand-spanking new shiny truck sitting there as a result of YOUR effort, well, it's a good feeling..

Not to mention that you'd have a MUCH better quality truck anyway. Engine, tires, pipe, drivetrain, electronics, etc...

Plus you could prob buy the X SS and build it - taking your time - before the new 4.6 Sav comes out...

Yeah, the X SS still comes with upgrades you would want anyways. Steel spur gear, racing clutchbell, disk brakes, alot of that stuff is easy to replace, but why go through the hassle? Get the better one to begin with.

I suggest the kit as well as you are able to put the whole savage together and know how things work and how it all goes together. I wish I could get myself a savage X SS kit but I got this whole Savage thing down now I believe.

You'll have a better truck if you build it yourself. Not to mention that you'll have the oppertunity to to have a better radio system than a cheapy am system. In the long run you'll be better able to diagnose problems and make repairs since you'll alredy understand the operation of the truck. This is, after all, a hobby and as such is much more than just buy and driving.

Your going to need to take it apart to fix it eventually so why not put it together yourself .

Yup im with all these guys, get the kit and get to know the truck inside and out. You'll be allot more confident when you'll have to tear it down to do repairs, and trust me you will need to repair something sooner or later.

I wonder why HPI just doesn't do away with the X and just package an X SS kit and an X SS RTR? Kinda silly to just drop a 4.6 into an RTR and not offer any of the other upgrades that the X SS has.

The SS (SuperSport) versions have always been HPI's kit version and that will probarly stay like like that.
