RE: hitec servo?
Lots of people use them for steering.
I have one. I am not sure if I like it though, its hard to get centered properly and isnt quite powerful enough to run big tires. It is definetly more powerful than the stock

RE: hitec servo?
I have one for both Steering and Throttle, and I really like them. They're cheap, yet a lot more powerful than the stock servos. With the HS-645MG and Dual Disc Brakes, my Savage will frontflip 3-5 times when I tap the brake. Steering is a lot more responsive too.

The 645mg is an excellent upgrade over the stock steeing servo. Even better for about $5-10 more, the 645's digital brother, the 5645mg! It has a bit more torque and is an excellent steeing servo to have for when you upgrade to a higher end radio that requires digital servos.

Like most people say, it'll do the job and is better than the stock but there are much better ones availlable. If your stock steering servo is still good use it for the throttle/brake, this way you get a 2 for 1 upgrade.
