Dont kid yourself, the wheelie bar will help some but it wont stop the truck from flipping upsidedown. I say get one till you can control the power and do a wheelie without using the bar.

its all about self control,to me the bar is a pain, you learn to rely on it,instead of learning the power curve of your model.now if your flat out drag racing, sure it can be usefull, but for backyard bashing and what not, really kinda pointless.......

Recently after installing my STS 30 in my Savage, it was the first truck that I can do wheelies on command, at the blip of a finger.. Sometimes, when you want a sharp full throttle take off, they can be annoying, but once you learn throttle control then its much better than with a bar. I can ride a wheelie without scraping the bumper or flipping for a good 20-30 feet, thats impressive for me since Ive had about 3 tanks of wheely time with this engine Although I did flip on my first wheely just after break in and scratched the beautiful cooling head

And the wheelie bar really adds leverage to the bumper and such...not good when you land directly on your butt!

I fitted a wing to mine, it stops it from flipping over..
