Axial .28 spec 1s air leaks
Took my new engine out for its first proper post break in tank today. My carb needles were still at break in settings but after i few high speed runs with the body shell off and a cold windy day i was still pushing temps close to 150 C (manual says 135C max...), that's about 300F....
the engine doesn't appear to be making huge amounts of power, it doesn't wheelie, doesn't even get close. I'm suspecting there might be an air leak, that's the most obvious thing i can think of.
I'm just curious thogh, do many people find their Axials leak? I'm only asking since it's a new engine and i would have thought you shouldn't need to seal a new engine. isn't that what all the o-rings in the back plate and carb are for? or is this all just wishful thinking on my part?

RE: Axial .28 spec 1s air leaks
the back plate on my axial came loose after only a couple tanks i had to take it off and put it back with thread lock
I used thread lock on my carb too on the little screw that holds the carburetor in place
I didnt see any temps over 210 during break in and was usually around 190-200
make sure your settings are not too lean

i just got done sealing the mid range needle on my .32... i think the carberators are the same. i sealed it shut on the outside of the needle and i got all my power back.
