Default And its toast!

Well i was running my savage x ss today, and having a nice run and i was making an adjustment, and i started revving it up and on the 2nd rev clank. I'm like oh no, so i get it up starts up, let off gas dies did this to more time and decided to bring it in, the one way on the inside of the block that little post that connect to the con rod sheared right off, and my motor has some nice gouges in it, and the con rod is like paper thin now, so i pull the head nothing but shavings in the head, and the sleeve is completely scratched to hell, so now my engine is toast, right at the 1 gallon mark.

I guess I'm on the hunt for a new motor now.

I was thinking sts 30v2 DM or the axial .28RR or a picco .28, or maybe the lrp spec 3, or go completely insane and drop a nova tm728 in it.

Call HPI, tell em about your engine and they might just send you a new one.

Complain, sell the replacement one on ebay. Use that money to get an STS/LRP/Axial

i never got pics of it when i first opened it, but i can open it back up and see if i can show the huge chunks form the con rod and sleeve.

I'm unsure on what motor to get, i want the rb, but its has a plastic carb, and one overheating run its gone, so is most of the others. I'm unsure on what I'm gonna get, do you think think the tm is to much for the savage? I might get the sts. on the side note my clutch is in great condition. i just wish i knew what to do now.

Is it possible to over tighten the fly wheel Colet?

The LRP and Picco 28 are THE engines to get for under 200 bucks... I hear - and believe - that both are way more powerful than most Savages can really handle. IMHO if I needed a new engine for my Sav I would get a Mach 427 - there are normally quite a few on e-bay taken new out of Losi 8T's, Muggys, LST2's, etc... I bet you could get one for 130 bucks... With the extra money get some cool new tires and rims, a 3-speed, or some other cool stuff....

An Axial RR - though mine was a PIA breaking in, but that was cuz of a bad pipe I think.. - I also think would be perfect for a Savage....

I agree with patrick on the LRP and the axial 28RR. I didnt have the break in problems so I like it.
