Default New(er) Savage X 4.6 radio problem HELP!

Ok, I bought my Savage about a month ago. I've run about a gallon of fuel throught it. 4 days ago, I ran a tank through with no issues then re-filled and started it up again but now at anything over 1/2 throttle my radio glitches- bad. I'm new to nitro cars, but I've done planes long enough that I know to look for something steel that's loose. I tore the truck apart and found exactly nothing loose (did find that the steering servo output gear was stripped at the hold down screw tho so I replaced that servo).

I found a couple missing screws that I replaced and I removed the engine and serviced the clutch and roto-start, but the glitch is still there. So I decided that maybe it's a crystal/rx issue so I swapped crystals with my mini-t and the rx stopped working all together. Swapped crystals back and still nothing.

So, now I have a dead savage. Any other ideas on the glitching / interference? Any ideas on why swapping the crystals fragged the RX? Thanks for any help!

Some crystals are not compatable with some radio systems.
Check the antenna wire closely for breaks
Check the wiring connections throughly (including the on/off switch).
Get a set of crystals for the HPI radio
batteries fully charged/fresh
Kinda sounds like you're assuming the problem is in the truck, don't forget to check the tx for problems too

Oh yeah, forgot to add that. New TX batts, new, freshly charged 5 cell hump pack and new switch (hump pack had different connectors).

I actually think the original problem was the RX crystal or the RX itself. I think I'll go tear the RX off right now and inspect it.

Swap radio systems (tx & rx) with the mini-t and see if the problem moves.
If you know someone with another Savage with a similar system then you could try their tx with your truck. That would at least isolate where the problem is.
Glitching on a land based vehicle can be a real pita to locate.
Good luck

got hpi to warranty the reciever.
open it up.look at the solder.doe's it look like a 2yr old soldered it together?
mine had blobs n gobbs. looked like some curcuits were touching each other.
