Weak Clutch Springs?
Wondering if I am on the right page and would like to pick the brains of the tuning gurus.
My tune is usually pretty consistent with minor changes made for outside temperature etc. Recently my mill does not want to spool down as smooth as it should. Is seems to stay at a high RPM for longer than it should after I get off the throttle. Naturally, I looked at my Low Speed Needle first and richened it up a bit, but she still revs after I get off the throttle. My pinch test is good.
I have also noticed some bog when I first put the truck on the ground after starting. Seems to idle and accelerate fine when the wheels are off the ground, but when on the ground she wants to bog if I do not hit the ground at a high RPM.
So, am I correct to suspect the clutch shoes/springs or should I keep investigating a possible tune problem. I really do not want to pull the motor if I don't have to

Nope, I am using the stock shoes. I have changed the shoes and springs and will see tomorrow if this rectifies the problem.

RE: Weak Clutch Springs?
Yeah if you checked the other culprits, the springs can give way and allow the shoes to stay engaged to the CB too long or just engage too soon. Just open it up and check them, chances are that if they have given up your shoes are in need of change too.
