whell and tire upgrades??
I'm thinking about upgrading my wheels and tires on my Savage 25. Still rockin the stock chrome 5 spokes and the tires have a few small holes. Any reasonably priced combo deals out there? What are good, which are crap?

dunno, after mounting my first set of dish rims, I'll say "whatever you can find on dish is worth it" they're so much lighter....and.....so far, they look like they're gonna take way more abuse than what I had before.....

RE: whell and tire upgrades??
a good deal is when you can find tires and rims for around 50 bucks for all 4. as for good tires and rims i would say the lighter, the better. dirt bonz are really nice because they are really light and grippy but i have not seen them go for less than 45 for just 4 tires. dish rims are lighter than most standard MT rims, OFNA has a set of four dish rims for 12-15 bucks. they're pretty sturdy and they are standard MT size as well. you could also go 40 series rims and tires, with the right combo, you could get bigger and lighter wheels.

RE: whell and tire upgrades??
I wish I knew the name and model of my tires because they do an awsome job on any surface. I bought them used from a friend last summer. I want to say dirt hoggs?? But I'm not sure. Most LHS have them and they are the same dimensions as stock HPI. And as far as rims go, if you want to save a few bucks I have to recomend painting the stock 25 rims a med-gloss black. It will make your truck look mean.

Dirt Hawgs I have those on my Evader, they really did well on virtually any surface (tar, hard pack dirt, sand, snow)
Those were the 2.2 rims though, I think you need to go 40 series to get hawgs on a savage.

all I know is I'm not buying another set of RPM rims, I've had 2 sets of the monster claws, and both of them have self destructed, one of them after MAYBE a week of having em, with some proline street tires mounted.....the others....dunno how long they lasted, but, when entire "spokes" were broken out.....I'm not playing that game anymore....I'll stick to proline and HPI dish rims, might go to a set of maximizer beadlocks......MAYBE.....

That set-up is heavy as hell though.. I have Maximizer beadlocks wraped with Losi Zombie-Maxx tires. There a great combo but the tires do come out unless you have rock rings or the optinal spacers that you can buy on there site. If you need parts for the beadlocks, you can also buy them seperatly on their website. I haven't seen that from axial yet. The down-side of beadlocks is that they are heavier and it is noticable when comparing to stock. For bashers with big motors it doesn't matter to much though..

Hey ForkLiftJeff.... I have a brand new set of HPI Dirtbonz that I haven't ever used... never glued to anything. If you want to start cheap... I'll sell you my set for $30 (I work in White Rock, but I'm off work till Jan 2nd.)... Live in Surrey though... a short drive if you're interested! They include the foams too.
Lemme know if you're interested! I also have another set of HPI DirtBones (used but in good shape) on wheels that'll fit right on your Savy 14mm hexes..... you can have those for $20 for wheels & tires... cheap stuff!! Send me a private message if you want photos or anything.
