im guessing ur new to the RC world since ur asking about the needles but im give u a little advise i know from first hand PERSONALLY that motor u have is probably the harest tuening motor on the market....... i spent bout 30 minuets chaseing that perfect tune on my friends savage with a collari
if ur new and just starting out try to get someone to help you out.........dont let them do it for u try to learn so later on u can tune it also it needs contant tuneing....my strongest peice of advise to you is buy the CARB for the OS 30 VG and slap it on ur collari my friend did it i helped him tune after and it ran great he barely touches his needles now only slight changes every so often
those collari 30 are BAD ASS motors they run great but are a real REAL pain in the butt to tune!!!

thanks, nitrorc, for the pic. that really helps me.
as far as the carb, it has SIRIO on it. are those any good?
so much to learn[sm=confused.gif]
also, i need a new exhaust header for this thing. its probably hard to tell in the pic, but the exhaust port is pretty close to the starting box. is there a way i can customize a header out of like a peice of steel tubing or conduit so that it doesnt puke oil the back of the motor?

RE: Lamberto Collari 30
that's how all exhaust ports are on these motors, you need a header for a savage, (don't run it without exhaust) and then slap your pipe of choice onto it. the header will be held on via a long spring that'll hook side to side btw.

with the siro carb ur goig to be on the same boat as the collari carb they both suck...........i know the OS carb is a little pricey but it really worth the money.........
also if ur looking into pipes.........look into the RD logics or THS pipe ive tryed both they both work really well

I owned that motor when they first hit the market. My advice, get rid of it! It will cause you nothing but headaches. It eats one way bearings for breakfast and melts rotostart housings from the piss poor exhaust design. Parts are unavailable unless you can find something on eBay. Biggest piece of junk motor ever built. Yes it is powerful and is a beast when it is tuned but that 5 minutes goes by quick. Unload it or turn it into a paperweight. [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNZW1&P=ML]Get yourself this motor[/link] It's a little expensive but comes with a no questions asked 2 year warranty. It holds a tune great and has tons of power.

O.S. .30 has the ABL liner that will wear out in 3 gallons approx. I've seen them run locally and they are turds IMO[&:] Barely an upgrade over the old S-25 engines...

RE: Lamberto Collari 30
I can second that the Collari will burn up a one way bearing in 1 run...and melt the rotostart completely out of the backplate.
Mine never had a problem holding a tune...but it never ran for long ,and still needs a one way bearing.
Anyone wanna buy it ? .32 about 1 gallon through it.
make an offer will take trades......

You are right that I havent owned one, but I have seen 2 run in my area and wasnt impressed at all. I would say an Axial .28 would be able to compete with it... As for negative comments on the .30, there are a decent amount to go around. Some people have had good luck with the engine but to each their own. I personally would keep the Collari, they are high quality engines that should provide good performance...

I pulled it out of my Savage because the one way bearing was slipping, and because I couldnt find parts for it. It sure ran like a champ though, very powerful engine.

It is located in the rotostart. It is what allows you to turn the engine over, but it disengages once the engine is turning faster than the starter shaft.

RE: Lamberto Collari 30
there is no fix that im aware of ..no matter how clean or oiled or whatever you keep the bearing ..it will not last for more then a 1/2 gallon, and at $40.00 each=paperweight.
but
gl with yours they are serious powerhouses.

Its either a 6mm or an 8 mm bearing ID.
Cant remember ,and the pic you posted dont say...most OWB look the same unless you know size.

RE: Lamberto Collari 30
well im pretty sure the one way bearing on this is shot. i can pull the cord and it retracts fine, but there is just no compression, at all. like the piston or nothing moves. does this sound like the OWB to you?

If you pull the string while holding the truck vertically (the nose up in the air) does it begin to grab? If so, yes, that your one way bearing giving you trouble. Mine does this. A trick is to put some fuel or Wd40 down the carb by removing the air filter. Not alot, but it helps clean it out. I do it and it grabs right away and starts right up.

Those owb's are kind of expensive. I had the motor and traded it for a mlst. The oneway bearing is inside the engine. It is behind the backplate. You will need to take off the pullstart and the backplate to get to it. Also when you change the owb, when starting the engine you don't flood the engine cause the pullcord will snap without much force. They are about $50 for a pullstart. If The pullstart breaks then I would buy a [link=http://cgi.ebay.com/LC32-150000-Rotostart-Conversion-for-Collari-30_W0QQitemZ280111715031QQihZ018QQcategoryZ34063QQ rdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638. m118]roto-start backplate[/link]. As for the header you might want to buy [link=http://cgi.ebay.com/Werks-Savage-Collari-30-32-Tuned-Pipe-and-Header-32_W0QQitemZ280096401017QQihZ018QQcategoryZ34063QQ rdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638. m118]a performance collari pipe[/link] because it is made for that specific engine. Oh and most important is the[link=http://www.carttonic.com/catalog/index.php?file=catalog&action=catalog_productinfo&uid=466&pi_id=133639&clist=0,9835,11305]collari OWB.[/link] If yo have any other questions about the engine pm me.
