Default 3rd gear shift adjustment

i recently purchased a savage with 3 speed tranny in it and its an awsome truck but it shifts into 3rd too early for my taste so i looked at the instructions and attempted to adjust it well i went to tighten screw and its all the way tight so i backed it off and retightened it and same thing all the way down but it works good just a lil early any thoughts?

Maybe you adjusted the wrong screw? There's two.....one just holds things together, and the other is for the shift point. There may be a third one over the one holding things together.....jsut to keep things from backing off, but I can't remember for sure.

It also may be that you are only hearing the 1-2 shift and your truck has never gotten into 3rd gear. Engine tuning as well as the shift point adjustment play a part in this.

Yes one of the screws holds the gear clutch holder in place the other allows the adjustment. Your best bet is to have a look on the HPI website and look under SUPPORT. then you can narrow the search down even further to '3 speed'.
