I absolutely love my Dirt Bonz tires that came with my XSS kit. They are great on dirt and grass but they aren't that good on ashvault. I just picked up a set of Zombie Max tires and those threads look awesome and they are said to be great on ashvault/pavement too. I aslo have a set of Swamp Dawg's but bashed around some rocks with them on and tore one of the sidewalls (very soft sidewall) the first day.

If your using glue, do a good job on them and take your time cause I regret rushing mine as I had a hard time keeping them on the rims.

big joes on axial 8 spoke.
hpi goliaths on hpi blast rims.
and the dirt bones on stock warlocks.
all have held up to my abuse from curbs to the latest picnic table leg.
if you go big you'll likely need to change the gearing.

I have 40 series big joes, and I don't think they're good for bashing. They help the handling, but the added weight and rotational force, they slow your truck down, and add alot more weight. I bashed with my Dirt Bonz, but I feel the sidewall is a little flimsy for hard core bashing. I've recently purchased Masher 2000's, and I think they'll be a decent all around bashing tire.

you can get the 17hex... if your left or right side ( to take off the tire ) isn't both going left then your going to need to buy something else too..... ( if you know what i mean )

You will need to install new stub shafts though on older model Savages-HPI 86065, to use HPI's stock style flanged wheel nuts.

X2. I have these on mine and they work great. They work just as good as a Dirt Bonz (I have these too) but with a larger diameter for more top end. The XL rims only work with 17mm hexes, so the shaft upgrade mentioned by CP is mandatory if you are using a older model Savage that orginally came with 14mm hexes and the "lefty to tighty" driver side shafts.

Do you have any means of weighing those tires compared to the dirt bonz? Just curious how much heavier they. I'd say the XL tires look like a great bashing tire.. they look as if they could absorb alot of impact.

No way to weigh them, but they feel about the same, give or take.

Ebay has been cheapest so far, new truck take offs from the guys selling out kits for parts. The ProLine Bowtie is an awesome tire as well, a little stiffer sidewall than the bonz. BB

I like these too, are they Hpi GT-2 tires? Anyway, they blow up like a frisbie at speed and have great traction. They are soft sidewalls though and roll under pretty easy. They are on my favorite truck to drive, so they cannot be all bad..... I have three or four sets as backups in the basement, it is a sick addiction....

Edited to add that I checked and they are straight Hpi GTs..... oh well, I like them anyway...

This place has 189 products in the monster truck tire and rims section
that are all marked down.Actualy all there stuff is marked down. lol

http://www.rc-tires.com/index.php?cPath=21_39&&page=1

I didnt have time to price compare to see if stuff there is cheaper then most places.
But i have gotten stuff there before and had no problems with them.

Big Joes are awesome if you drop 1 tooth on your clutch bell.

I also love these tires but they slide around on grass and wet pavement. The foams that come with them stock are wayy to soft too and need to be upgraded.

I'm running Losi Zombie maxx tires. There a great all around tire and are very good on wear.

Those are the GT-1 tires. I wanted to get a set, but the online shop I order from was out of stock at the time. The GT-2's are the ones on the Savage X 4.6 RTR.

GT-1's are in the middle in this pic

These are the GT-2, and they're also great bashing tires.

I edited my post below the image as shows in your quote.... Anyway .. I have the GT-2 tires as well... a couple of sets of them. I never run them and they are still either new or like new. I bought them thinking I was getting the GTs and never did run them very long. I prefer the square shouldered Proline Bowties for wheelies. I like the loose surface traction of the GTs and the way they balloon at speed. I run the Hpi Bonz a lot too. We all have favorites. I have several sets of big tires.... I do not like them either because of the way they kill the suspension. I have not tried Big Joes yet. I keep hoping to be around a set first.

The GT-1's weigh about twice as much as the GT-2's. The Dirt bonez are one of the lightest MT tires. I have a new set of Dirt bonez that came with my X SS kit. If anyone wants to buy them, PM me and we will discuss terms.

Can you show a side pic of your savage with the XL tires and wheels on it? Im thinking about getting a set but want to make sure they are not too big. I have teh Dirt Bonz with teh extended tvp's and they are too small now.
