59mph from a stock X 4.6!
you may have seen this already, but I just found RC racing TV online. They did a radar speed test of the Savage X 4.6, out of the box, to see if HPI's speed claims were true.
They clocked it at 59mph/96kmh!! Heres the link.

NO FRIGGIN WAY its going to do 59mph. Best I have clocked, tuned to the max was 47mph on my sons X 4.6. My savage with an lrp, stock gearing and XL tires was clocked at 53mph. My brother inlaws MGT 8.0 was clocked doing 48mph. There is no stock 1/8 scale MT that will do over 50mph. The closest thing would be a xtm monster mt or a schumacher havoc. The havoc will do about 52 and the xtm is about 50.

you never know, 30%+ fuel, leaned out like heck, you can gain a few MPH with those simple mods, but ya, that fast from an MT, now thats "pushin it" a little if you ask me[>:]

it probbally wasn't calibrated for our wee little cars, because there so much smaller they pass by somthing much faster, nose to end than a real car moving at the same speed so if it wasn't calibrated it'll top out faster, and i don't like how they cut a bunch of stuff from the promo vid done by HPI,

To Be honest I think HPI sponsor the show. Thats why they have bits taken from their promo vids, I think.
Could it also explain the wild speed claims?? Surely HPI wouldnt stoop to bending the truth! Would they??

can a guy mistake a 3 for a 5 once in a while, we all know that the writer meant to type 39mph stock ......not 59. just a little m9istake, ya know 3 ad 5 sit almost right next to eachother. and if you move the keys around a little then the writer could easily tap the wrong key in a haste to share the good news.
oh yea by the way i bought a tyco speedmonger(39.99) from radioshack and it outran my brushless mambamax e-revo!

You joker ! Its not a typo. If it is, and its a piece of there advertising, they should give themselves an uppercut. These things are checked and checked by there IT mob. No its no typo, its writen as intended, so lm writing to get the message to them across, l recon there liers, and you or there company cannot expect people to not' comment honestly , and lm wondering if you would say the same thing if it were a traxxas lie ?

A k4.6 may not break 40mph but the F4.6 will easily break 40mph. Its not that hard to do either.

We all know it wont even touch 59 mph. The xl 5.9 wont even come close to that stock. And it as a 3.75 hp engine. The 4.6 has a 2.9 hp engine. stock it will do 42mph. Think about it!

I think he got a perfectly normal and accurate reading of a car or truck on a nearby highway. The only way that truck will do 59 is in another vehicle.

Guys, it really is very simple. Even taking tire swell into account, do the math! The gear ratios are known. Lets be really generous and give the engine a 35k rpm max, it STILL isn't mathematically possible for the wheels to be spinning fast enough to cover the ground at much more than 45.

PS. While I'm here and we're talking about it... 2.9hp?? That's the same as the 23cc gas engine which propels the 25lb HPI Baja 5b to 45mph out of the box. Excuse me if I express my skepticism on that front too.

35-38 MPH on a perfect run on a perfect day.......I watch all the videos of the 4.6 and the way most people tune they will be lucky to see much past 30 MPH........the K 4.6 is capable of about 30 000 RPM tops under load, the 4.6 will never hit anything over 30K...even 30K is really pushing it for that motor.....
