Default New rims and tires for my savage x ?

Im looking at getting a new set of rims for my savage x ,I thought about getting these rims from tower .They are the Axial Oversize Beadlock 8-Spoke Black Chrome . Now my question is will the stock tires from the savage x fit on the rims or do i need different tires. Also what would be a good agressive tire for those rims.

No, you'll need an "oversize" or "40 series" tire to fit those wheels.

Yep.

Make sure you have XSS/X4.6/XL diffs though, because they'll eat up some drivetrain parts.

Don't even think about the MOAB's! They are WAY too heavy. They will make your Savage really slow and next to impossible to control in the air. I would also recommend the Axial oversize 8 spoke wheels instead of the bead locks. Bead locks are a lot heavier and are a pain because the tires will pull loose frequently. I wouldn't go with anything bigger/heavier than the Big Joe or Masher 40 series tires. The 40 series Mulcher's are pretty awesome on grass and dirt. I have a set of Big Joe's and a set of Mulcher's. A set of Mulcher's weighs about 3/4lb less than a set of Big Joe's or Masher's. Here are some pics of mine.

Those actually look really good! If they are as light as the HPI GT2 tires, they should be a great bashing tire.

im running 40 series wheels on my savage and i notice how much slower it was running

i now have a 15/47 pinion and spur and the truck is now allround quicker than it has ever been,

40 series look great on an savage x, and they help alot on the handling with the extra width.

When you switch you 40 series, remember you have to adjust the shift point on the transmission. When you noticed it was slow, was it shifting into second? I am wondering if when you changed the gearing (spur/cb) you compensated for the trans not being adjusted....therefore making up for the lost speed?

I just adjusted the shift point half a turn clockwise as it was changing too early.

also im running an lrp30 with a dynamite 053 pipe so it wasn`t really that slow,

it just sounded like it was killing the clutch trying to accelerate

but now the 15/47 gearing it is just a perfect blend of speed and instant acceleration.
