Default Picco engines

Since allot of us have these engines and more and more are getting some I figured it would be nice to have a specific thread. There's allot of great info on them floating around but its all spread around in many different threads.

Post any tips, info, questions here. I will try to answer as much as possible but I think BB and Supertib will be very helpful with this. Maybe Tib can post up some stats, dyno charts and vids of his modded 28's. BB, since you make lots of vids and your a picco maniac, post a link to ALL of them here.

I was thinking of that but I though it would be nice to have one here, just like the STS engines thread we had a while back. Mods, if you think this thread would be better off in the engines section then feel free to move it.

Of course, we should cram as much picco related stuff in here as possible.

Not a Savage, but a Picco 26 in a Tower Terror, I should try this engine in a [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUzm9O7PuJY]Savage![/link]

Picco 28 in a Savage bouncing off the [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCJdpUIB3Do]arcade walls..[/link] it was horribly slick in there!

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFO3Ou4Bfbg]P3 making big[/link] fast circles on a black top lot. The throttle servo was dying and failing to return and it had zero brakes! It was my first 25 to XL conversion.

Somebody said they ran 18/47 gears on Terra Pins with no trouble. They might have, but it makes a P3 Savage XL fly for [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExDPpRdj_Vg]high speed.[/link] That was kind of a neat day, it was hot and people I knew just kept coming by. I think before it was done the poor beast went through a gallon and over a quart of fuel singing like that.

Stock Picco 28 with a two speed and [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ_QuBQ68TE]Dynamite 086 exhaust....[/link] 16/52 gears.

My son and nephew running a Picco 28 against a 5.9 on hard packed dirt and buffalo grass. [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbfEt9pks5U]It starts with an idling contest [/link] that really cooled that Picco's chamber temperatures down. I am surprised it did not go down in a cloud of smoke.

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJlITTet6vE]My first day[/link] with the modded Picco from Supertib. That thing was insane, had to run in high gear to keep the tires down. Within two weeks, I had ripped the roof off the truck.

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kxyN807Tdc]Same thing[/link] a few days later, still locked in high gear.

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OWVNyOzmo8]Same truck and engine[/link] different body. The Chevy cab had bit the dust. Still doing everything in high gear.

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7BqtBOE6tI]Modded Picco[/link] in the big rocks... not uch action to this one. Location...location.. location...

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozozlgcw8Ss]Modded Picco[/link] playing in the sand and one of the few videos of me jumping a truck. I just do not get the jumping thing, but the XL sure sails nicely!

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS9J9f-6W1g]A very frustrating day[/link] with a Picco 27!

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWqZt2xDQkk]Picco 27 & 28[/link] in Savage XLs with Grave Digger bodies. The 27 had major carb issues.

The fixed orange headed Picco 27 and the fixed green headed Picco 27, I was really sick that day, but [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBoNY4FGBhI]curious![/link] Also a short run of the mdded Picco, but the steering servo died. The sound difference between that modded engine and a stock Picco is unreal!

Here is the four bolt P3 27, looks just like the P3 28, only green and says 27 on it.

The six headed orange heat sink with the big W on the side, which I assume to be Werks. Bud

I just went back and looked up the auction, the one Tib has is a six bolt green head engine.....

i think this would be a great idea, but maybe change the title to savage picco engines so it can stay here... since most of the picco's were gonna be talking about are gonna be for the savage....

That second one is the low profile head they came up with for the 80 mph Fusion. Picco Power! I will grab some photos of some of my other Picco heads later and post. Bud

edited to add a photo... the green six bolt head...

i would think if your were looking for it being suited to the lst that you would go with a GRP engine. LRP is Associated.

BV; It is running strong! It is amazing what a little seal job is capable of doing for one of these.

The aftermarket head on that Picco sure is pretty.
ES; Thanks, I thought it looked much better than the ground up original! I had my choice, blue, purple or natural... El Naturell it is....

scince when did they put flames on the heads of the p3 piccos? mine just says P3-28
CFX; I am not sure how they decide what engine gets the plain head and what engine gets the flamed head. My original plain P3-28 came on a bump or tubo engine, then I bought two new pull starts that were flamed. Tower sold out for a while, the next two pull starts I got from Tower came in with one flamed and one that had plain P3-28. It is almost like that have a huge bin of heads that they randomly pull them out of during assembly.

Originally I thought the plain version was bump starts, then I decided that it was on the older engines because some of the 27s are marked that way. Now I am back to where I started, I do not know.... Man, I wasted a lot of time typing all that crap to say I dunno.... Bud

A couple pics of 3 of my 4 picco engines. The 4th is in my racer and has a nova heatsink.

The .26 is fresh from a rebuild, the 27 has seen 2 tanks, in other words its new and the 28 that some of you have seen with the busted up head.

Once I find a little time I would like to take out the sleeves to compare the ports and post the pics, unless BB beats me to it .

Here's a neat variant, this one is a bump engine, but I have two pull starters around here someplace.

I ran one in a Savage for a while, that little snot had a ton of rpm and pretty good low end. I am sure Someguy can vouch for their ability to scream onward. I used to search Ebay all the time for 26 engine, hoping to score another. I always thought the lightly marked head was kind of cool. I dropped one in a Tower Terror for a few weeks and my buddy could not get over how bad it smoked his Terror. Bud
