i just bought a savage XL and im pretty pumped about it. i hope its as good as my 5b ss is. sorry just wad to let it out. what plugs you guys run?

Its not, you are in for a huge let down. Your R/C experience will now be a crappy one. The Savage breaks often, it is a POS. It has been money wasted.


Did I kill off some of your excitement?. I run any plug my LHS has, but thats just me. I like McCoy MC59s.

Don't listen to him.The Savage is the most durable truck on the market and almost never breaks. I run the hpi plugs according to what season it is. Medium for summer and Hot for winter. SO far they've been great for 7 gallons. Oh, and to RCNitroHead, I've put my truck through 7 gallons of high speed crashes, 15 foots jumps, and miscellaneous mistreatment and the only I've EVER BROKEN was an A-arm when I hit an oak tree at full speed.

As for the durability- here are 2 pics of mine and Ariancio's bash, just a teaser since I forgot about them. I have 50+ from that day, broken items are- Upper/lower arms, one Carbon Fiber hinge pin, one CF turnbuckle, the bulkhead is a bit fugly, but it can function, and 4 bent screws[8D].





How did I do this you ask? Well, I can't take ALL the credit, I'll give it to going 40+mph into an 8in rock[8D]. (Sorry for the Hijack)

LOL... Mad man Andrew, I'm very certain Nitrohead's Savage has seen what you throw at yours and then some. He was persistant to see if he could ram it into a slab of concrete that was 5-6 inches thick 3 times at good speed. He abuses his truck more then I ever will. I don't even wanna know what he does to his women...abusive sob he is

Thats my foot and Revo in the right of that pic, and I also broke an A-arm(thanks to Nitrohead ramming his bleepin truck into mine) Thats why we have RPM though.

ManManAndrew you have any pics or footage to back all that sweet talk? I bash my savage hard but god knows its aint tough as nails cause I have broken it numerous times. I trust my revo more then I do my savage.....yea thats right I said it, in the savage forum.

I would love to do this with my savage but it would be broken arms, bent tvp's and god knows what else I didn't break on 5ft jumps.

i agree its a great truck but 7 gallons and one arm broke,you couldnt have jumped it or anything,imo. i have about 2 gallons thru mine and i beat the snot out of this thing. i have broken a fuel tank,lower arm,diff drive cup,1 stock roll bar/handle,1 wheelie bar,1 shock,1 turnbuckle,1 wheel,2 spur gears and a engine mount. thats what i can remember,so im thinking madman just idled his truck thru 7 gallons.lol

if you dont ever break anything you just aint driving.

To the OP... Congrats on the new truck! Enjoy it... but best of all... DRIVE IT... break it... fix it... repeat! Some of the fun is wrenching on it after busting a HUGE jump. [X(] (just make sure you capture it on video...)
