Default RE: Airtronics switch harness What the F??

possibly a short circuit due to reversed polarity? when you plug in the battery, do the red and black wires match up?

You got owned!!! Just like I DID!

You have to make sure that the wires line up because if they don't, then you're in for a real treat...wait, you already got the treat! [>:]

Same thing happened to me when I plugged my hump-pack in the opposite way and it started to smoke a little and some of the plastic/rubber started to melt real fast, so I grabbed at it real quick to pull the plug out and burned my finger in the process. There wasn't any lasting damage from what I could tell since I've used the pack numerous times since.

Reversed polarity happened to my Nephew and He fried his switch and blowup his hump pack.

With out regaurd for his safety He unplug the hump pack and throw it in the empty sink and
it went off like a 1/2 stick off TNT ...Some of it hit him in the face but he is fine. (No blood)

(Could have been worse if he did not take the hump pack out because he did have a full tank of nitro) BOOM BOOM !!

Here is the hump pack

Ok, I went ot my LHS and picked up a JR brand switch harness and it works fine.I was told the airtronics ones, the wires are reversed compard to the new jacks, so when u go to plug them together the way u ASSUME they SHOULD go the airtronics end is wired the wrong way unless u look youll have the same issue i did.BUT this is how i set mine up after i installed it.I put a vertical slit in the rubber boot or plug that the X comes with and forced the plug end out and spun it half a turn so it cant get pulled in.

You all ways pay attention to the color of the wires. Red all ways goes to red and black to black. Not rocket science. Yes I have some plugs that will fit either way but make sure the colors are correct. Did you just have the switch hooked up or did you have it connected to your RX?

OMG! ***falls out of chair LMAO***!!!!

Seeing that hump pack peeled open like an orange is just too funny!

Well, the fact that someone could have been hurt is no laughing matter, and I'm glad everyone came out okay, but reversed polarity in ANY batt is a bad thing. Imagins an 11.1V LiPo doing that, that would be something serious indeed!

yea thats the very first mistake i made on my savage. i hooked it up and it stared smoking, another couple seconds and it would have exploded. i burnt the receiver so i had to get another system right away. wifey was pissed and the stock radio is now in my sons toybox. i was such a noob that i let the LHS guy tell me that i needed another tx/rx and could not just get a new receiver and crystals.
