Yes, if you stiffen it up, it will wheelie.

Also, it could be the crap clutch the Savage 21 came with. replace it with a 3 shoe HPI flywheel, and some aluminum clutch shoes, and you'll be on your way to wheelie city.

I don't know if that old HPI 3.5 in the Savage 21 has the stones to throw the front wheels in the air, even with a good clutch and traction... Stiffening the suspension will certainly help like Mr. Junkie said.

The [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFYJ9&P=7]purple shock springs[/link] seemed to work the best for wheelies for me. I normally just run the stock ones, but I do have a set of purple ones and they worked great. Glen

on the shocks the springs are red if they're stock, go here
http://www.hpiracing.com/kitoptions/831/
and about halfway down you'll see a bunch of springs they're of different stiffnesses basically harder to compress
the stock red ones are meduim, giving you a softer suspention, if you upgrade to the black spring which HPI runs on all thier savages now you'll get much stiffer suspention so it won't compress so much when you hit the gas you won't loose so much power in compression and you'll be more apt to wheelie, then the oil is what goes into the shocks http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/86955/ thats the HPI stuff, i run AE oil, tho anything that is pure Silicon will be just fine, for thicker go for a higher #, 30 is a good wt, tho you may wanna try 40, this will affect how the truck handles as well just so you know, then to upgrade your clutch http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGWY3&P=7 you'll want that at least and these will make a world of differance, http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHWJ3&P=7 i run these however cuz i'm cheep, no issues so far, but integy doesn't have too good of a rep http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPUD7&P=7

When I try to run anything thicker than 20 weight oil, I just destroy shock shafts, they bend faster than they can compress, apparently. Anyway, on the clutches, I have been buying complete flywheel/clutch/spacer sets on Ebay off of the XL trucks. They seem to be one of the best aluminum clutch shoe setups for the Savage that I have found. Glen

Another thing to consider is what is your gearing? If you have say a 53T spur and a 13T CB(If a 13T CB even exists), that will give you the torue to wheelie very easily, assuming the 2speed of the older .21 Savages.

Also, how is your .21 engine? if it is worn out, it will not perform now make the requisite flywheel torque to pull wheelies. A .28 engine with the gear ratio I mentioned above will very easily produce the flywheel torue to wheelie on command.

Of course, this coupled with a good tune, and what everyone already has said, stiffer rear suspension, will contribute to how easily you will wheelie.

+1, how hard is it to place the picture of a 13 tooth clutch bell on the 13 tooth clutch bell page?

LOL. A 52T spur and stiff rear suspension is the easiest way I know of to get never ending wheelies.[8D]
