savage 25
I just got a used savage 25 it's my first rc and I have a few Q's, I have compleatly disasembeled it and plan on servicing and cleaning it everything looks good and there are no problems the previous owner hardly used it just a few loose and missing screws.
The differential oil was old and dirty. What type, weight and quantity should I put back in it?
Is there any service I should do to the trany (2 speed). What type of lube does it use?

The tranny does NOT use any lube at all. Its dry. The diffs you can put like a 30wt diff oil. Shocks should use about 25-30 wt silicone shock oil. Thats about it. I would upgrade teh clutch shoes to aluminum.

If you are just going to be bashing then put in 50k differential fluid in the front and 30k in the rear. As for shocks, 20wt is the closest to stock. If you are going to be jumping, then keep it at 20wt so that you do not risk having too thick of fluid in there and possibly blow caps from big jumps.
Keep this in mind...the only places that any type of liquid/lube goes into these trucks is only the inside of the differential, the shocks, fuel tank, and motor.

The shocks you want to fill up almost to the top, leaving about 4mm left. When you compress the shock, the fluid should seem like it is *almost* going to spill over. As for the differentials, you want to fill it as much as possible without the fluid squeezing out. If you do not already have the 4 bevel gear diffs, then you should definitely think about getting them, along with the alloy differential case. Full differentials can be had for <$20 off of ebay.
