savage xl pull start
hey probably a stupid question, but got sick of toting around roto start every time i have a stall or do a tune so bought a pullstart, and was wondering if i just bolt it on or if i need to oil it and such, or if there are any other steps i need to know about?, again probably stupid but thanks for your responses

Yes it does bolt right on, nothing else needed. But i would highgly suggest sealing it with some high temp sealer I am sure some1 else can elaborate further.

RE: savage xl pull start
I just purchased a $18 Pullstart assembly (#15226) for my savage xl also. I would like to know if someone can give details on how to install? I read that there is no need for sealant on the backplate and to not tighten the screws of the pullstart too tight or it will have problems recoiling...is this correct?

My 5.9 came with a pullstart and I will say that it uses the same exact one that comes on the Axial .28/.32 engines and the HPI K/HO 4.6. Simply pop the roto off and install the pull start.

RE: savage xl pull start
so i had the same though i sold my roto start system
later i went to my hobby shop and these are the pull start that they have for k5.9
HPI Pull Start Assembly K4.6
and
Axial Pull Start Assembly .28/.32
i was wondering which is more durable because the Axial Pull Start Assembly .28/.32 is cheaper so i though its made of low quality parts
thanks

the pull start on my axial 28 was pretty good, it broke one time because i pulled it too far(my fault and actually it didnt break its just the knot came undone and the rope pulled out of the casing, i just had to rewind it)

RE: savage xl pull start
so are you recommending the axial pull start?
because it is only 15 bucks 10 bucks cheaper then the hpi one= D
.... a penny saved is a penny earned

The Axial and K engines are the same thing. You can use the Axial pullstarter as it will be the exact same thing as the Hpi starter. They are some of the nicer pull starters I have used. Glen
