Somewhat disappointed in the LST2 shocks...
I put on the LST2 shock conversion kit, this one... [link]http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?session_id=&part_id=3172[/link] ...and the last two times I went out, I've busted the same shaft twice !! [:@] The first time I was just circling around warming up the Picco, not even going fast, and not paying attention hit a mailbox...not all that hard, which I"ve done before and no damage....but I go to check it out and the shaft snapped right at the mounting point !!.....go change the shaft and do the exact same thing with the same results about a day later...crap !! [:@]
My biggest grip about the conversion is that the way the shock mounts in front of the lower arm!! Look at that pic in the link and you'll see what I mean...it's totally exposed ...any minor hit and that thing is snapping like a twig !! At least with the stock shocks, it's somewhat protected as the mounting point is inside the lower arm with these, so the arm takes the brunt of any impact and not the shock....may rethink this, I don't know...just kinda ranting here as I'm pretty PO'd rite now...not to mention the fricken shafts are 5 bucks a pop !!!

RE: Somewhat disappointed in the LST2 shocks...
I have been thinking up going with big bore shocks on my Savage XL too, but when all my extra stock shocks finish I will be getting the Savage Flux shocks. I really don't know if they are a exact fit on the XL, but they are are about $50 shipped on ebay now. Have you tried looking at the Flux shocks? Has anyone mounted these and know if you need to moddify something on the XL or are they a perfect fit...pics would help too?

The Flux shocks are plastic versions of the Big Bores that came out for the Savages not too long ago. They should bolt right up.
hans4811, I am really surprised by your trouble. I have run LST shocks on the Savage without a single problem but then again I make it a point not to repeatedly crash into a fixed object.

Aye, this has a bit of a 'doctor, it hurts when I do this...' 'Well don't do it then!' feeling to it.

Key for LST2 shocks are the springs. Stock silver springs are way to soft. RC Raven dual-rates are the ticket.. Haven't broken a shock in two years...(on an LST2..)
