ORIGINAL: Allgood_73 One question though: why aren't you selling the body with it if you no longer will be having a flux?

Because that was custom made by me and I don't want someone driving around and gloating my personalized truck body and saying they did it.

I have the same Reedy bats
Modded the battery boxes to clear the wires but they do stick out a bit
I am going to hold down the tops of the cases with releasable zip ties
those pins that are 90 degree are nice
do you have a part number for those?

Good day,

I have axles and dogbones from my nitro savage X SS and I was thinking if it is ok to use these dogbones running on 2S lipo. Do think they can withstand the torque? The reason why I need these olld axles / dogbones is that I want to run buggy-style hex hubs..

Thanks

That definitely makes sense. Again, good luck with everything!

I don't have any Turnigy packs, but have a whole bunch of (now discontinued) Zippy H packs. I have recently started using Zippy Flightmax packs....and they are very good. The ones I use are 5000mah 3S 30C. I have never had a bad pack from Hobby City and they are a great performance vs cost battery supplier.

Also, check out the marketplace here on RCU... look for IceWindius's Flux he has for sale. He has a great price on it and it has been featured in several magazines. It looks like he took excellent care of it.

Ice,
I felt all bad for ya thinking it was something like losing your job or something crazy like that.... I didn't realize it was to pay for your new Baja 5T!!!

I was highly debating the 5B vs. Savage Flux when I bought mine... but I decided not to risk a gas or nitro powered engine again. I might end up picking one up in a year or so.

Anyway, have fun with the trip to Vegas and with the new 5T.

Nope... since I have switched to my bulletproof diffs, I haven't had any problems with the driveline.... I've probably got around 30 hours of use on everything. I know the transmission is not part of the driveline but rather the powertrain, but thats the only other part that I have had to replace a part. I had to replace one of the drive gears (HPI 86097) which is not hardened. Afterward, I found out that they now make a hardened drive gear (HPI 102514) for it, so I just bought that and will replace it when this one gets old.

Anyway, besides that... no, no problems. What type of problems are you having?

I haven't got one yet, but I'm definately considering getting one. I just heard that the early ones had problems, but I know that the heavy duty diffs are standard now

Ryan, I'm a bit confused with HPI... as I thought they were planning on switching to the bulletproof diff gears straight from their factory too. However, if you look on their website... it specifically says:

"Equipped with #102246 Machined Super Heavy Duty Bevel Gears"

They keep their website VERY up-to-date, and HPI #102246 is NOT the same as HPI #102692 which are their machined bulletproof diff hgears. Here's a link to the bulletprood gears from HPI for the Flux:

http://www.hpiracing.com/press/102692.html

Anyway, after switching out the gears and modding the battery boxes (let me know if you want some info on this), the Flux is no doubt my favorite RC yet and I have switched between several nitro and electric vehicles. Hope this helps!

The latest Fluxes have the bulletproof diffs in them. Call HPI and they'll tell you that.

Awesome... I'm glad to hear that, but they need to fix what's on their site then. Two other changes for the new Flux:
2.4 GHz transmitter
Fully enclosed ball bearings for even less maintenance (extremely nice... and expensive!). These will be included on any HPI product which uses bearings rather than bushings.

Ryan, they are the same price too... so make sure you buy the latest one. Tower Hobbies has the best price: $639.99 - $60 instant rebate = $579.99

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXZJE2&P=ML
http://www.towerhobbies.com/products/hpi/hpid4240.html

$100.00 - $124.99 $15.00 010B1
$125.00 - $149.99 $20.00 010B2
$150.00 - $199.99 $25.00 010B3
$200.00 - $224.99 $35.00 010B4
$225.00 - $249.99 $40.00 010B5
$250.00 - $299.99 $50.00 010B6
$300.00 or more $60.00 010B7

You must be a member to get the prices above... and I believe you can get a 1 year membership for like $10.... and when you sign up for a membership, you get like $10 off your purchase, so I believe it's essentially no extra cost.

Again, hope this helps.

This thread was created to help centralize a knowledge base about the Savage Flux to further help both current owners and people interested in buying the Flux, just like peeps have done official threads for Revo's, Tmaxx, Baja's ect... I am mearly giving it a bump after sitting idle for awhile, nothing more. But continue your attitude if you so desire, just know I have RCKen's permission to PM him personally on people that are causing issues here.

Are you trying to say that he in fact DID NOT invent the flux? His build threads truly are pieces of art so much in fact he put them 10 different forums, and his flux has been in magazines! WOW! Hes cool! I wish i was just like him........or not

That sucks man! Too bad you couldn't keep the Flux and get another toy. Either way, $450 is a very fair price. Good luck on the sale. Maybe Thunderbirdjunkie will buy it and finally see the light! lol
