I received my Bulletproof gears today. The Bevel gear has 29t and is nice and thick. The Bevel gear is 29t and the pinion is 9t. It comes with a bevel gear, pinion gear, heavy duty grease, thread lock, 6 shims, 4 screws, bearing and washer.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
Good deal, people are getting the diffs, now lets beat the crap out of them and see what they can take!
I have not recieved mine yet, but I am sure they are on the way.... Maybe it's best cause this weekend I have a lot of work to catch up on....and it's going to rain tonight and tomorrow.
EDIT: Went back to take a look at the gears and I have a question. It's been a while since I have delt with gear ratio and I forgot how to figure it, so whats the new tooth count going to do to our gear ratio? 29t/9t Vs. Stock? We going to have some more low end or high end?

The ratio of the new gears is 3.22. What's the stock gear count? Take the ring and divide it by the pinion to get the ratio. If it is larger than 3.22, it means less low end with the new gears. If it's smaller than 3.22, it means more low end with the new gears. If they are the same ratio, nothing changes.

interesting. 'binary' is 'icewindus' re-incarnated on a new account. Didn't think that was allowed.
Cool video.

The stock Bevel gear is 43t and the Pinion is 13t. Which comes out to a 3.30 ratio.

the performance change is quite nice, actually. I like the new gearing alot. Only noticeable change was the top end. I can knife edge the badlands on flat ground simply from the excessive speed now. It was more relaxed with the other gearing. I like this better.

Just got a box from HPI today. Opened it up and there are my new gears...but only half a set!! It's a big no-no to run two different gear ratios in a 4WD platform, so I guess I'm calling HPI on Tuesday to get the other set sent so my truck matches front to rear. [&:]

Got my free bulletproof diff upgrades from HPI yesterday and finally had the energy to install them today. I shouldn't havn't worry about the diffs for quit awhile now. The difference is quite impressive, anxious to drive it now and see the difference

For sure....something will eventually break in the driveline with the two different diff ratios "fighting" each other. That's why I'm going to hold off running the truck until I get a set of gears for the front.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
Hi guys, I've been running my new Savage Flux and noticed that the shocks leak pretty much.
I have the aluminum ones as well as the stock plastic shocks. It seems odd to leak that much, let's say that I could use teflon tape on the top cap thread and solve that part but I'm not really sure what to do with the bottom caps from the aluminum shocks, those caps look like they can't be opened up to mess with the O-rings.
Anyone of you guys had similar issues with the shocks ?

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
Thanks for the info man, but since I'm living in Romania, calling HPI won't be of much help apart from getting some piece of advice, their support network isn't reaching this far so I can't ask for parts, I have to buy them.
The plastic shocks give access to the o-rings so I could fix the issue there but I'll let them work a little more, maybe they have to settle in.
For the aluminum ones I'll have to see how to get into the bottom caps if possible at all.
Cheers.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
From my previous experience with the HPI Firestorm 10T, the aluminum shocks provided a smoother, more consistent operation.
This seems to be the case but to a lower degree because the weight of the car gives much more inertia to counter the friction in the shock.
I didn't expect the shocks to leak though, neither the aluminum nor the stock ones.

Some better outside and action pics. I"ll have a big video up later tonight of our recent bash session. New diffs work awesome and even sound "beefier"
