RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
Savage Flux-free here. Ebay'd mine a month ago and hopefully whomever bought it is having fun with it. Cool truck for sure and the best Savage ever made. Still can't figure out why HPI never offered a factory XL version of the HP instead of the gimp 4S version they just released.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
any one notice that hpi came out with a conversion kit for the nitro savages to be converted to a flux?
http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/102534/
wondering if i could buy a ss savage to build, use the conversion kit, and have it the same as the flux, but with the tekin 2250 brushless?

SK, financially you'd be way further ahead to snag an XL, since most of them have the bulletproof diffs and some other beefy parts.

No doubt...but you should be able to find a reasonably local truck to check out to buy. Stuff pops up on CL all the time in Phx and Tuscon etc.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
i see your point, but i still would rather build it.
tower prices.
ss savage $384.99 minus $25 rebate if i get it now.
Flux conversion $174.99
Tekin Rx8 2250 $339.99
874.97
i already have a radio, and i have heard of more success with the tekin system then that castle. i have no doubt that the rtr is a better deal, but i just do not like rtr trucks, to me it is more fun to build then to take it out of the box and run it.

Do what freeze did. Strip it down, add parts, make a 9 page thread and before the end of the thread revert it back to stock
In all seriousness...the X SS has a bunch of substandard parts. Start with a used XL, or buy a new-stripped Flux roller.

Silly question here, gentlemen. Is there a plastic spur for the Flux? Thinking a 44 or 43t. Got a 1600kv 1520 going into one of the nitro trucks.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
Hey guys/gals, I need a little help here....
I am switching to 40 series wheels and big joe tires on my Flux. So my questions:
1.) WHAT HUBS do I buy to accomodate the new 23mm wheels?
2.) What Pinion gear do I need to run now to avoid any overheating issues?
If you have a link to the part or parts that would help alot too. I searched on ebay but maybe i'm not looking for the right part, so i'm a little confused. Maybe because i'm tired and feeling dumb this morning lol? Anyway thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
Note: I went with 40 series big joe tires and 40 series 23mm Cheyanne wheels, I plan on taping the inside tires to avoid balloning as well. I think they are going to look great. I also added a Chevy HD body to the flux so she will be looking GOOD afgter all this is done and eventually I may move to extend her but not at this time since i'm working on a different project (Brushless GST) thanks again!

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
x2, if you want a center diff in a Savage, you need something that isn't a super cool monster truck. Something lame and boring like a truggy or a 4wd SCT.
That being said...does anybody know what the maximum pinion size with a Flux is with a 47t spur? ThunderbirdJukie does NOT want to run a steel spur, and his smallest option for plastic is 47t...a 1600kv motor, 20t would be optimal, but he doesn't have his motor plate in yet. Any ideas?
Later guys [8D]
