THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
Well, I searched and searched and I was surprised and very dissapointed that NOONE has started a dedicated thread to the awesomeness that is the HPI Savage Flux-HP! So with that being the case, I'm starting one. Let all discussions and topics about this insanely beautiful and powerful monster be here from this point forward!
I just picked mine up today instead of the Baja 5T after much debate and reseaching! I can't wait to get paid next week and start playing with it, i've already taken it apart to learn its guts as this is my first HPI and Savage truck.

Well, the stock shell was boring me to death, so I added a bit more color to it. I just really hope it works outa the box or i'm gonna have to return it and start all over on another one. Wonder what the DOA rate is for Fluxs.........

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
I've had mine only days and have broken both bevel pinion gears in the diffs. I think, and I'm no professional engineer, that the hardened steel gears are actually NOT what this truck needs. The ring gear is fine being hardened. But to have the pinion (bevel) ALSO hardened is asking for trouble IMHO.
As I've said I've broken both the rear and the front stock versions and replaced them with standard X bevels. (part no. 86031 and have no problems yet.) What happens is the hard steel is not able to reflect any energy and actually absorbs all the impact and shatters under extreme shock loading. The non-hardened version should ever so slightly flex and reflect energy back up the driveline and hopefully result in vehicle motion. (However undesired it may be at the moment.) It's still better than grenading your diff.

Well, mostly cause my landlord doens't allow internal combustion engines due to my leasing agreements, which sucks major balls. I only got away with my Revo 3.3. two years ago because they never found out about it. But on top of that, I like this better as after owning my Revo, I was really burnt out from constantly tweaking, fiddling and fixing that nitro engine crap. Granted, I know the Baja's arn't as bad, but its still alot of truck to maintain and I was worried I might get burnt out and fustrated again, so this time I'm going brushless electric and try that out

I see. but i think its a good decision though. I also have nitros and I share the same frustration in its requirements of maintenance and constant tweaking. Though i want both it gives me fun on both types...goodluck on your flux. im planning to get one too.

Got my Bad Horsie shock covers today, they look nice and will help reduce shock rebuilding, which sucks any way you look at it

I'm going to jump on my soap box and totally contradict what I have said in the past and say that if you run 6S, you have to get the Castle link and reprogram the ESC if you want to actually drive the truck. I had my truck "unprogrammed" for 2 months on 6S and it was totally useless as low as half throttle. With the Castle link, I toned down the throttle curve to where the truck is actually functional now. It's still brutal, but not as "light-switchy" as before. Just my "front line" experience with this truck and 6S.[8D]

Old news. We've been talking FLUX for ages now....Where you been
Go take that trailer queen out and beat it up. Then you'll be cool like the rest of us on here!!! Those little shock condoms will last about two seconds on the flux.

Wooo, I got my Triton2EQ charger into today from the Brown! *I love early Birthdays!* I also went ahead and changed my diffs filled with 100k and it feels alot less looser and more power should go to the tires now. Also went ahead and gave the tires a good CA glue job on both sides to make sure they stay one. I also went ahead and covered up that servo arm opening in the RX box with some elect trape and got some nice large velco straps, so those batteries arn't gonna go anywhere! All I need now is my 2x SMC 6000mAh 28c batteries on Wed and its off for my maiden voyage!! [8D]

Hey man, where'd you get those velcro straps?
Also, you're missing the issue of RCCA with the Flux on the cover! I've got it if you want it. LOL

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
Well no joy for me, those stupid #$*(@)@# at SPC sent me my batteries with farking TRX connectors instead of Deans. I'm so pissed im about ready to pass out and I sent a very vocal email demanding an explanation and fix for this.
UPDATE: Within 10 mins of my email, he called my cell phone directly and was very apologetic as he, the owner, had done the order and made the mistake. He was willing to go as far as paying for my LHS to have deans connectors put on and then credit my card for the work and plugs. He was willing to do cross shipping but I didn't have the time, money or patience for it so I opted for the deans plug payout. I will also give me dealership cost on my next order to make up for this mistake.
All in all, im happy that he was willing to admit his mistake and do what he could to correct it, so I will give him and his company kudos for this. Unfortuantly, accountability and customer service rarely exists anymore in todays society.

O boy lol. I'm sure they will make you happy. Sorry to hear about that.
A tip for all flux owners. You will break the diffs if your running 6S. If you land on power, even just a little they blow apart. I have the CEN diffs for mine that I got off ebay for $70 new. BUT I found out that really you only need the ring and pinion gear from the GST. The ring/pinion will bolt right up to the stock stuff and just needs to be shimmed. Yes the GST diff cup and inside gears are a little stronger but they arent needed. I havent heard of anyone blowing the alum cases/bevel gears. This would save you guys a few bucks and make the mod eaiser.

wow thats nuts. did that happen from a hit on the side of the wheel or a hit of the throttle? What I mean is, if the truck is T-boned it will push the dog bone into to diff causing this, not from too much power. That looks like impact damage, they would strip not shatter from normal abuse.

I'm not really sure what caused it. My brother was running it in the street/field and came back saying that no matter what, it would pull to one side. So I opened the diff and found this.
