17MM Hub Conversion with XL's (Narrow / standard width) HD Axles
I have a just upgraded my savage X to the HD axles. Ibelive they are the same axles as the XL's but they dont have the spacers out where the Hex's go.
Is there any way to run 17mm buggy/truggy hubs with out doing the HPI conversion. I want to keep the big HD axle shafs and not down grade back to the standard sized ones.
My bro runs a set of the GT2 tires with the 17mm Warlock wheels (standard x tires) on his T Maxx. He just bought a set of HPI Savage aluminum 17mm hexes with the Savages wheel nuts and they went right on.
So the pin hole in the axle stub is the same sizes. I bought a set of those Traxxas 17mm hubs and was going to try them on my savage. I didnt know if anybody else has tried this or has another way to run the hubs with out converting to CV's.
Here is the hubs

Unfortunately, there is not a way to run the buggy style hubs since there aren't any 8mm axles that will take the dogbone from the XL.
ThunderbirdJunkie has looked into it...and hoped...but alas, no.

nope.. I wish too. Been running those axles since last summer. Good thing to add is they take anything you throw at them! But no conversion that I know of other than turning down one ball end and putting the pin back in. Purenitro has a latheand does this forthe tvps he makes. Hit him up sure he'd make you a set cheap enough.

So the standard buggy / truggy hubs wont work.
Has anybody tried the ones that Traxxas came out with on there REVO. Tower shows them as an Option part for my bro's tmaxx. The revo and tmaxx show to have the same part number for the axle shafts. The HPI ones work fine on his maxx so I was thinking that the Traxxas ones might work on my savage. I will have to wait to see I guess.

Good Day,
I already sent an email inquiry to HPI and asked if when do they intend to offer 17 mm hex hub conversion for FLUX/HL but still no reply..Any aftermarket parts being offered?
Thanks
Carl

you can bolt 1.8 buggy wheels right up with the stock 17mm hex's and bolts
i thought it looked goofy too, so i'm saving those for my 1.10 truck
the lug

Hi Michael,
Thank you for you reply. I was referring to the buggy-style hex hubs with a hex lock-nut and I was thinking if HPI will offer an option part for this.
Thanks
Carlos
