Savage SS having the turn radius of a whale...
Hey
I'm having a bit of trouble with getting my truck to turn good enough.
It has the turn radius of a normal full sized car so it needs the full width of the road to turn.
A friend of mine has a Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5 which turns on a dime more or less. When comparing the end point of the steering, it is the same. So it should not be because my end point is set to low. Actually it can't be set any higher. It is maxed out at 70% or so on my radio.
But when driving it is a whole different story.
I'm using a Hitec HS-945mg servo (11kg@6V) which should be quite powerful. He is using a Hitec HS-5645mg (12.1kg)
Also when it is placed on the road it can barely turn the wheels when standing still.
My idea is that the servo saver is "saving" the servo to much... Or maybe the battery pack is dead and can't hold the voltage up when under pressure. Or is the Savage just a horrible turner?
Any ideas is welcome! I need a solution
best regards
Klaus

Well i already have a high torque, metal gear (non-digital) servo. It's not a 24kg servo, but that just sounds like overkill.
What would i gain by changing to a digital over a non-digital? The torque is around the same on my current one and the digital ones.

You can put any servo on a savage, you'll never have the turning radius of a traxxas truck, never!!!!
The savage don't turn, that's all[:@]

Well it is okay if it can't turn as good as a traxxas. But I hoped it would turn better than a normal sized family car...

Also, there is some trimming you can do to your knuckle that allows you to have more throw. That might help as well.

I guess I will have to try to do some adjustments to the servo saver and maybe borrow another servo to test with.
But that will be in the weekend.
Thanks for the advices so far

its your servo saver, but don't go over kill on it they really do save your servo i locked mine up cuz i wasn't thinking and took a jump landed not going perfectly strait and it was gone this was a small jump think like speed bump at 15-20 (was part of the rythm section deal and first lap...) either way it was gone... killed the plastic gear in my servo that has held up to many many hard hitting cartwheels
4-5mm gap from the bottom of the treads to the collet should be good
the lug

If it turns out that it is my servo that is to weak (because of old age maybe?) which one should i get as a replacement?
Something like the Hitec HS-7985MG?

Just a little update.
It helped ALOT tightening the servo saver. Before it was at 3-4mm. Now it is at 7-8mm. I hope there is still enough room to protect the servo...
But now it can actually turn again without needing the entire road.
Silly me forgetting that it was possible to tighten the servo saver
But thanks for the inputs.

My savage is the length of an XL, with XL axles, and 40 series wheels.
