RE: What are the signs of a Blown DiFF?
Fast forward to about 5:30 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VxBSaqfWG4
They normally make noise under power, one set of wheels will not pull, or pulls in jerky movements. A lot of times the engine will labor to pull the truck as the mesh is screwed up.
If you have a free spinning axle, it is probably one of the grub screws in the pinion or transmission drive cup. Glen

The first sign of a blown diff is a clicking noise while breaking.
I caught it everytime before any further damage insued.

Your Savage should roll forward freely. Rolling backwards, everything should spin back to the engine. The transmission has a one way bearing that allows it to coast. That is why you can roll forward easily. Rolling it backwards engages the one way bearing and caused everything to turn back to the clutch bell, unless something is broken. Glen
