RE: XL 52T Plastic Spur Gear
you'll want the one padder for the XL
for the record if you didn't know that or w/e
the two pad was a failed/overcomplication of the orginal one pad
hey look i don't look like a jerk now cuz i added history [8D]

What was wrong with the dual pad slipper that the F4.1 came with? That way it clamps the spur gear inbetween two large plates. Instead of putting all the clamping force on the small center bronz bushing that the spring rides on

i think that people were having issues with it, and it was probs just cheaper to make the single which worked fine for so long, i don't think anything was wrong with it, its just that the single was a better move buisness wise and it didn't require all new parts from aftermarket mfg's and such

Incorrect, I bought the one padder and this will not direct drop into the XL.
I need a coupler or some more washers to make it work.
Does HPImake a plastic for the XL...anyone know???
If not how do you make the single padder listed above work?

I don't know why you would want a plastic spur on your XL. I have 1 XL and 4 X's that I have converted to XL's all running the steel XL spur with some over 4 gal and I have had 0 problems with them. As long as you keep your mesh right they are trouble free [sm=shades_smile.gif]

RE: XL 52T Plastic Spur Gear
Iknow you probably think im crazy but I just have a heck of a time getting that gear to mesh correctly and that is why yours have been running for 4 gallons or more. I guess Iwant plastic just from a cost standpoint. Spurs are 1/3 of the cost.
How do you remove your engine, from the bottom? I'd like to get my mesh set up and remove the crappy 5.9 from the top but its too difficult.
Do you think it matters vented cb or not? Some say the non vented melt the plastic but Idont know if Ibuy that.
Iguess it all goes back to the mesh, you gotta have the mesh.

Its easy just undo the fuel lines, the throttle linkage, the pipe spring to the frame you leave the pipe on the engine if you have the roll bar on take it off the four screws on the bottom of the engine plate and pull the engine straight up and its out. [sm=shades_smile.gif]
