i'm looking at the same engine for my X SS cuz my k4.6 is sucking air like a vacum, and i've seen it in a revo and it was pretty sick, tons of power down low especail and easy to tune, with a spin/pull combo
here's the vid

i was thinking a 053 pipe with round header and i'd just snag some flux boncers off ebay,

Well Ican tell you the .28 has plenty of power to put an LST on its back at 3/4 throttle. I dont know what gearing my buddie is running but his truck is boderline uncontrollable, Icant even imagine this thing in a revo.
Im just wondering if its as powerful as an LRP30.....the big red is about 50 bucks less.

eagle76, I am new to the board (I will introduce myself later), but I have a Savage XL with a big red.  This thing is ridiculous.  1/4 throttle wheelies on demand and GPS 49mph.  I haven't found anything that will run with it yet.  My friend has a picco .27 and I walk away from him.  If you have any other questions let me know since I love talking about my new toy.

talk to you guys soon!

The Big Red .28 has insane torque, as seen in the video... on pavement it is uncontrollable... I know that because that Revo is mine

I am sure the LRP is a very good engine, but I don't see where the extra $55 go for. I don't see why you would need more power...

In the video I removed the shim, put a hot plug, and run on a 5% nitro fuel. I can't imagine what it would be like with a 30%

I have a LRP30 and would want to get the Big Red because the heat sink just looks so cool!! Saw it at LHS and I was surprised that the motor was only $149.99

This and the LRP28 will definitely be tough choice when my F4.6 craps out in my X.

Is the Big Red a 3 port or 6 port SH 28?
This is relevant to ThunderbirdJunkie's interest.

I'm surprised to hear so much positive feedback over the Big Red - cuz I would've thought it was just a rebadged Mach 28. Apparently it's not though..

It's not a rebadged LRP 28 Spec 3 either.. Can anybody compare this to a Spec 3/Losi 454??

HS, if it's a 3 port SH 28, it's a terd with no real top end.

Same thing as what ThunderbirdJunkie already has for PCS

I always heard the 3-port SH's were good - good torquey bash engines...

If it's a 6-port, that sounds like a re-badged LRP Spec 2, with some of the Dynamite XLP touches or whatever?..

If it were 6 port, ThunderbirdJunkie would have just ordered it.
The 3 port has NO top end and will get raept by a Mach 427

Correction, Horizon sez it is 6 port.
Time to buy.

If its the 6 port it will scream on topend i had the xtm457 6 port,

basically the same engine internally and it was excellent allround,

i also had the sh28 3 port in a 2speed monster pirate and it would lift the front wheels in the air, but suffered from little topend

although i run the xtm 457 in a extended madforce it was still too much engine for it,

Yeah, ThunderbirdJunkie saw it AFTER he'd seen a couple other places say it was a 3 port.

Not yet, wimped out on the trigger pull.
Considering the Go 28 just because ThunderbirdJunkie has had so many SH engines that he wants something new and exciting, while he knows exactly what to expect from the Big Red

Probably the same
It just kinda sucks that Dynamite engines have that massive backplate that prevents using gearing that'd make the 28/30 usable in the short Savages

What do you mean by that? How does the backplate afec the gearing you can use? I was thinking of getting one for my savage x...

What companies are the two motors made by? SH? <-Does that stand for something? So getting the Dynamite would be a better choice since it is about $25+ cheaper and it has a cool looking head!
