Any one race dirt oval with their Savage?

Been running dirt oval with my HPI 5b SS. Going to pull my Savage out of retirement after 4 or so years and give it a try on the dirt oval next racing season. Any one here race dirt oval with their Savage?

My first guess would be to drop the truck substantially, seeing as we all know its on the top heavy side!?!? Thicken the rear diff....... and besides that im pretty much lost! Ive never raced oval (no scene around here) but i've drifted

It is all ready dropped. I have it where the A arms are level. I did this back when I was racing off road many year ago. I all so have the HPI big bore shocks which I bought right when they came out as well as the HPI suspension kit. This is the track I run on. I found on my HPI baja thinner diff oil seems to work better for getting around the turns easier. Might be different on 4 wheel drive.

The standard in drifting rc is locking the rear diff, in this case i wouldnt lock but i would start off with 5k-7k-10k in the rear maybe?!?!?! BTW the track looks sweet i think you might have better luck longer wheelbase chassis??? FLM length maybe???

I know you raced 8th scale buggy im sure ull know what you need the first day u get on the track, im just basically eyeballing my opinion from the 8th scale racing and 10th scale drifting ive done. im mixing and matching so to speak

I have a couple good friends I meet through racing years ago and they are running Revos. Now do not get me wrong as they are great people and I would do just about anything for them. But you know how when you race the smack talk goes. LOL For years I have been saying I was going to pull the Savage out of retirement and now is the time. LOL Out of all my small scale stuff much I am trying to sell the Savage is not going anywhere. :D

I need two things to get the Savage up and running a RX battery pack and a new glow plug starter. My glow plug starter has been shoot out for years. In my situation this could take a month or so. Some say I am crazy but I have some sealed fuel that has been keep inside, in a box in a dark area for about 3 years. I am going to see how it works. [X(]

I have only been to the track 2 times with my HPI 5b and still working on getting the set up right but I am getting closer. Hopping after first of the year to talk to the track owner and see if he will do a few test and tune days.

Any one looking for a OS 18TZ with about a gallon on it, with header pipe, OS tune pipe, OS air filter, flywheel, clutch and more?
Thanks all for the input!

I'd try a road rage type tire with as light a wheel as you can find. If the track is as smooth as the pics look I'd try getting your truck as low as possible. You'll only need about an inch to 1.25 inch of travel. I'd also try front and rear sway bars if possible.
