Savage FLux 2350 problem

Hi guys i was driving my savage flux around until i heard a whining and a grinding noise. here is what it sounds like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7xiw...ature=youtu.be
If any of you guys can identify the problem, that would be really helpful.
i am worried because i only had this truck for a few weeks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Flux HP sounds just like that. I chalk it up to it being a metal pinion and metal spur gear just making noise...

Well today i put in my batts and went outside to run the truck and after 3 passes it made a loud grinding noise and it refused to move. It looks as if the it is not meshed properly and the truck locks up. When i turn on the truck and press on the throttle, it makes a nasty grinding noise, and i am sure it is not just the metal spur and pinion moving as they are both metal and make a grinding sound naturally. I am hoping this is not a problem of the differentials or transmission, i will post a video of the problem soon.

Sounds like your pinion gear is stripped.

I checked the pinion and spur and they have all of their teeth none are missing.

I once had a problem with gears making ugly noises and I ended up stripping some internal transmission gears because they weren't shimmed properly. ( see first photo ) They ground the outer edge of their teeth and eventually the truck wouldn't run. I replaced the gears with stock part #'s right from the owner's manual and the truck hasn't had a glitch since. (see second photo).

You should remove the roll bar over the transmission then remove the 3 vertical screws in the transmission case. Keep track of all the screws because they are not all the same length. Peek inside your transmission and hopefully yours doesn't look like mine did.

Otherwise, if you checked your pinon/spur for missing teeth that's fine but, did you look close to see if the teeth are showing excess wear? If the teeth are pointed and sharp them the gear or gears are bad and need to be replaced. Worn steel gears will make weird sounds too.</p>

The truck does move and run but it makes insane grinding sounds and sometimes the tires lock up and it takes alot of strength to move them again. Savage flux 2350 problems. I took my truck out for a ride down the street and all of a sudden i heard a loud grinding noise so i ran to my truck, turned it off and tried to move the truck forward but it would not budge even when pushing hard, so then i pushed it back and it gave out and started moving but when i turn it on and give it throttle it has a nasty grinding sound. What could be the problem?

Well i took it apart today and the drive gear is stripped to hell. Most of the teeth are gone. The drive gear's number is 86097. Does hpi warranty cover this? Or will i have to buy it myself? Pics will be up soon.

Just buy the part. To my knowledge HPI doesn't warranty parts execpt the electronics.

That gear is $6 at your local hobby shop: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...LXDLH0&amp;P=7. If they don't have it on the shelf they should be able to order one. I fixed my transmission for about $13.

That's a very standard wear out part on the savage, upgrade to the HD (heavy duty) part and you won't have to worry about it for a long time. (Next gear to fail will be your pinion if you keep running a steel spur)
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXSA9 <- for reference, I think TCS has it cheaper than tower usually.
