F4.1 worth a rebuild?

Well, I fear that the ol' F4.1 in my Savage is nearing the end of its life. It has decent compression but the conrod bearings are pretty worn.

So, like the title says, is it worth getting a new piston, sleeve, and conrod for 90, or find another ~150 dollar engine and cram it in my savage? I'd really like a new engine, but the performance of the 4.1 has been spectacular, even if i got it second hand.

Well if you're happy with the performance of the 4.1(.25cc) You'll love the power of a .28 or higher. IMO the F4.1 is NOT worth the rebuild, way better engines with less issues can be had for good prices. I always recommend the LRP, comes in a .28 .30 and .32. The .28 can be found for under 200$.

How does the LRP .28 compare to say, Dynamites Big Red .28? I have a dynamite mach 2 .26 in my buggy and it's amazing, taking into account how cheap it was.

Dont quote me on this but I think they are both re-branded SH engines. I believe the LRP is a more recent model with different porting and such. Either way SH engines are very good considering how little they cost.

I figured as much, besides the head the engines look identical. I just have to see which gives me a better discount at my store, horizon's engines or LRP's, lol.

Only thing I don't like is the pullstart on my .26. It ALWAYS comes unstrung and I have to bump-start it. I'm afraid that if I get another .26 or a big red, that its pullstart will come unstrung too. And since I can't exactly bumpstart it, that's a problem.

Could always get a Force 4.6 is you liked the 4.1 so much I've seen the 4.6's on ebay for $120 before brand new pulled out of vehicles.

I can get a Big Red for 125 dollars, no shipping. I think that's what im going to do. Thanks for your help brother, especially for showing me LRP engines. I will be picking up one of their pro engines for another buggy i have.
