Braking!

Hi All

MY Savage 25 is running brilliantly but the same cant be said for the brakes. I cant slow down!! ive had a look at it at i hav realised that the servo is reaching full without moving the brakes. How do i adjust the brakes so they actually work!! but dont stay on all the time. I tried adjusting them by the little turny thing on the end of the rod but then the brakes wer permantly on.

Someone please help cos i cant slow down !!!!

Cheers

Joe

adjust your linkages like you were doing, then compensate by using the throttle trim on your radio. There is absolutly nothing wrong with the stock brakes.

I just put the dual disc conversion on mine ($18 at HobbyTownUSA) and it will flip over on it's roof now. I have never seen a stock Savage brake setup that worked very well.

a hump pack will do the same exact thing, flip it on it's roof, then it will also give your steering servo like twice the power, on my smoothly paved driveway, the stock steering servo will turn the wheels while standing still. In my opinion a hump pack is a much better investment

I'm new to Savage so I'm gonna ask..... what's a hump pack?

A hump pack is simply a 5 cell rechargeable receiver pack (6 volt pack).

Cool. Is it still just 6 volts? Is there more amps there?

RE: Braking!

Yes, it's still 6 volts. If you were using rechargeable AA batteries in the 4 cell holder, then you're only using 4.8V.

Capacity varies from around 600mah through 12oomah (or more since the last time I bought a receiver pack).

4.8 volts? How do you figure? 4 AA batteries at 1.5 volts each add up to 6 volts

RE: Braking!

Alkaline AA's are 1.5 volts apiece for 6V. Either NiCD or NiMH rechargeable AAs are 1.2 volts apiece for 4.8V.

I both added a hump pack, and dual disc brakes to my savage today, and the results were astounding. I have to be very careful, or it will flip like no other. I took it down the road, slammed them on (not thinking) and it must have flipped 10+ times. insane.

Another thing you may want to check out is the throttle linkage mod, I have not done it, but it seems like it would giv eyou more braking power. It only costs like 7 bucks to do. I you do a search, you will find it.
