Ofna throttle/brake linkage mod.

I am modifying my linkage set to the ofna linkage set up. I have run into a minor clearance issue at the servo. There seems to me to be more than one fix to this and I was wondering how others have installed their set up. Some side and above pix would be great. My problem lies at the servo horn and clearance at the frame. Thanks

very impressive setup. Would you mind sharing where you bought the upgrade kit?

Nice truck by the way!

I built mine very similiar but I had to do some minor work in addition to what rex2342 has done. First you must buy two of the OFNA throttle linkage kits. You must also buy an additional piece of the hardest/stiffest linkage rod you can get. You also must do your own z bends so you need a tool to do that with. To really get your brakes to work well you need some additional springs. I also put a 20mm aluminum servo arm on the linkage. I enjoyed building my linkage but it was not just a simple kit you throw on the truck, it requires alot of customizing if you want to set it up like rex2345 has done and have it work.

I just did this mod. Will get batteries for camera tomorrow. I could not find long link bars so I bent piano weir and It seams to be holding up fine. I will let you all know after I bash some more.

Instead of buying two kits you can probably get away withe an Ofna slider kit, and piano weir. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBL84&P=7 (I like orange) Mine is on order so that I can set it up like rex 2342. But for now I did mine like the set up on the Savage central link. http://www.savage-central.com/ftopic2179.html

The tool that I used to do my Z bends is something everyone should have in there tool box, nedel nose pliers. Chanel locks, or even vise grips would work to.

Have fun!

I love this sight!

I almost forgot. You will need some brass wheel collars, I got 1/16!QUOT! nickel-plated. My LHS had Great Planes, 4 plus alien tool for just over a buck. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...00&FVPROFIL=++ If you wont them to match the culler of your linkage thin you mite as well buy two Ofna Servo Linkage kits. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBM06&P=7

I hope no one minds the long post. I just wonted to shar my home work because when I asked this question I was told "hear is the link" and I ended up buying the wrong kit the first time.

Hope this helps some one!

It's just like he said. The hardest part was bending the linkage. I just used a pair of needle nose pliers and a pair of channel locks to bend it up.The other hard part was finding a screw to hold the sliders that didn't hit the tvp's. I eventually had to dremal down the plate just a bit to clear the screw.

[:-] someone used the search.

Ive got my throttle on the bottom with a home made throttle arm rigged to pull instead of push, I feel this gives me quicker throttle response. The cool thing about the throttle brake mod is you can set it up any way you like. very adjustable.

heres mine.

What did you guys use for linkage wire? I have some .078 which is I think 5/64" and it does if in the servo horn kind of tight. Guess I could open it up some if I have to. The only thing I'm not able to find is 5/64 collars, guess they don't come in that size.

Here's the list....

1/16" wire
1/16" collars
Ofna Linkage Sliders

This should be it. Let me know if I'm missing anything please....

Thanks...

You dont need any extra linkage wire...just use the stock brake rod...you dont need to bend any Z bends or buy anything extra, just one OFNA linkage kit and one sliders kit and your done. Although I have used a different servo horn the Ofna one can be used easily...or even as some have done, keep the stock one.

But whatever makes YOU happy...:D
