Default AFPD Airplane Graphics issues

Good Morning! i have AFPD installed on My new system. See below for Specs. The program installed fine and runs fine except when I fly the graphics on the plane are all messed up. it’s only the airplane graphics as everything else looks fine. the physics seem fine also. it's the same in photo scenes or rendered scenes. i also have the star flight add-on, but it was the same prior to loading it. Any ideas?

AMD Athlon II x4 635 processor 2.9 GHz
4G Ram
750G Hard Drive
ATI radon HD 4200 video card (intergraded)
Windows 7, 64 bit operating system

Please post the tm.log file which you can find in the main AFPD directory

You may open the file with a text editor like word or notepad. Just copy and paste the entire content into your post.

odd....the TM.LOG file is empty. it's 0 bytes and nothing in it. i also notice that the progam locks up with all the rendereded scenes but not the photo scenes. airplane graphis are still messed up.

Bill, a few questions:

Are you running Vista or Win7, because your tmlog says Vista?
What is the version number printed on your main AFPD disk?
What is the ATI driver version number?
Do certain planes exhibit this behavior or all?
Which AFPD patch did you install?

I also am have the same problem with my plane graphics being messed up. I am also running Windows 7 64bit. My TM log is also completely empty.

For the ATI HD4200, the latest driver is version 10.9 http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloa...n-win7-64.aspx Please try to uninstall your old driver and install the 10.9

Mike,

thanks alot!....that was it!.....when i checked my driver it told me i had the most up to date driver, so i thought i had that covered. thanks again for your expertise. one other question. (and i've had this issue with past computers) when i have smoke on and the graphics set to the highest res, and the airplane is in close, it grinds to a hault....like less then 5fps. is it due to the integrated video card? i would think my system is plenty fast and i have plenty of ram. anything i can do about it, short of buying a $300 video card?

Hello Bill, glad to hear that. The HD4200 is not really a powerful card, so you can't push it that much. You could set the video card hardware acceleration to maximum. Other than that, in your graphics settings, disabling some demanding features like smoke, etc will help. Also, its good to run your antivirus and anti-spyware to get rid of any malicious programs running in the background.

Bill, another trick you could try is to install patch 1.9.7.11 instead of the more demanding 1.11.7.21 (which you will only need for addons 3 and above)

To do this, you would have to uninstall and reinstall AFPD, install starflight addon, then install patch 1.9.7.11

The uninstall instructions can be found at the bottom of this page http://www.aerofly.com/afpd/downloads.html and the link for patch 1.9.7.11 can be found somewhere at the top of the same page

I would recommend cards which will meet the requirements of softwares coming in the next 3 years. Take a look at the ATI HD5000 series, but also be aware of the power supply requirements.

Mike I'm having the same problem as bmoney69 had with the planes graphics not showing up on the plane when you go to fly but everything else working fine. Do I have to download some latest driver verison thing too? I just installed it on my new laptop.

Heres the specs:

4gb ddr3 memory
1gb ati mobility radeon hd5650
intel core i5-460m 2.53ghz 3mb L3 cache
windows 7

My aerofly version was a 1.9.1.3 after loading add on 1 and starflight. then i downloaded the patch thinking it would fix it so im at version 1.11.07.21.
